Help with upgrading 7960 SCCP to SIP
I've got a Cisco 7960 that I'm trying to convert to SIP. Here's what
"Firmware Versions" says:

P003-07-1-00.bin
P0S3-07-1-00.loads
P0S3-07-1-00.sb2
If I put "P003-07-1-00" in OS79XX.TXT, the phone tries to tftp

Re: Problem converting a Cisco 7960 to SIP
...P server. The 4 original Cisco's work fine
still. The Polycom IP500's work fine.
The problem is with trying to get this new Cisco 7960 online... It came
pre-loaded with the SCCP image and I cannot get it to convert to SIP.
Currently it is running the following versions:
App Load ID: P0030301MFG2
Boot Load ID: PC0303010200
Version: 3.1(MF.G2)
The phone contacts the DHCP server and gets an IP successfully. The

Cisco 7940 -60 firmware upgrades
This for the archives in case it may help someone:
I was able to upgrade two Cisco 7940's from firmware P0030301MFG2 to SIP
7.1 as follows:
1. Installed 7.1 images from the Cisco zip file to the TFTP server.
2. Specified "image_version: P0S3-07-1-00" in SIP<MAC>.cnf and
SIPDefault.cnf
3. For the older of the two phones, renamed P003-07-1-00.bin to

Cisco 7960G phone crashes during SIP upgrade
...e just restarted. By looking on the
TFTP logs and tcpump output, i've seen that the phone crashed and
restarted just after downloading the OS79XX.TXT file, without
requesting the image file at any moment.
If i'm putting a SCCP image file name (without ext.) on the OS79XX.TXT
(begining with P003), the phone doesn't crash and request the
respective SEP<mac>.xml file. Unfortunately (again), just after
downloading the xml configuration it hang and restart. I've checked
the syntax and they's no error on it, if they's one the phone output

Cisco 7.2 firmware for SIP 7940/7960 release d
...o 7.2 firmware for SIP 7940/7960
released
Hi Shaun,
Saw you post, and rushed to their ftp-server and downloaded it :-)
But, I can't make my phone (7940) upgrade, so maybe you can give me a hint.
I added the files to my tftpd folder, changed the version-number in the file OS79XX.TXT - from P003-07-1-00 to P003-07-2-00
In my SIPDefault.cnf i changed the image_version from P0S3-07-1-00 to image_version: P0S3-07-2-00
Then I reboot it, and it loads the SIP<MAC address>.cnf - and reboots - and this goes on forever, or until i change the image_version number back to P0S3-07-1-00.

Cisco 7960 upgrades
...ental upgrades from 3.1 -> 5.3 -> 7.5, with no luck. It
goes to Upgrading Software and sits there endlessly redownloading the same
file.
It seems to stall going no-where .. Any one successfully upgraded the phones
from default? What are any of the specifics. With the 5x series do I need
the P003-05 in the OS79XX.TXT file or still the P0S3 ?
Anyone have any ideas as to what I should do? I can't seem to get the pre 5x
versions of the software any more. Seems with my contract I can only
downgrade to 5x series. All that shows on the Cisco CCO site.
Please let me know
Thanks...

7960 help
I have 4 7960's that I am trying to get working but 2 of them will not
update to the SIP image on my tftp server like the first ones did.
i keep getting the error on the phone 'Defaulting CM to TFTP server' like it
isn't seeing the *.bin on the server.
are you supposed to have on of those for each phone? would be like cisco et
al to do something like that.
TIA

Cisco 7940 [SIP], DTMF and Voicemail
Hi everyone,
I'd say this question has come up and been answered before but I haven't
been able to find it.
I have a Cisco 7940 that I've upgraded to SIP firmware (currently
P0S-3-06-3-00 - for some reason there was a failure when trying to
upgrade to V7 so I left it at V6).
The problem I'm having is that when I connect to voicemail the DTMF key
presses dont seem to work

7960 Not Picking up new firmware.
G'Day All.
So I got the TFTP server all set up -thanks to much help from this list-
the 7960 found it and updated to SIP the first firmware P0S30200. What I
am now trying to do is upgrate through all the versions, as recommended,
to the latest version, P003-07-3-00.
I thought this would be accomplished by simply changing the sole line in
the OS79XX.TXT file to P0S30203 and reboot the phone. But no success.
Any pointers? Thanks

Hi,
I am sorry if this message has been reposted, but for some reason I am
having problems with posting it.
I configured asterisk and zaptel modules with fedora2.
I want to be able to load the zaptel wcfxo and wcfxs modules.
For now I will use only the Wildcard TDM400P card.
I am able to load the modules but I cant configure them using ztcfg or

Cisco 7.2 firmware for SIP 7940/7960 released
Hi All,
Just a heads up - I was looking around the Cisco FTP a little while
ago and noticed that the SIP 7.2 images for Cisco IP Phone 7940/7960
were released yesterday (16th August).
No new features - all bug fixes according to the release notes. I've
already started using it.
I thought those of you running the Cisco phones and the appropriate
access who didn't yet know would like to

Cisco 7940g Firmware load problems
I have a Cisco 7940G IP Phone. I am trying to load the firmware to SIP 3.2. The Phone just hangs in Defaulting CM to TFTP Server. It doesn't do anything else after that. I also have two other 7940g's that are the Universal Application Loader mode and say Protocol Application Invalid. I need to know what I can do to fix both these problems. I am running Asterisk@Home version 1.0. I have to
