Package RODBC sqlQueries
All - I'm new to SQL and the RODBC package. I've read the documentation associated with the RODBC package, but I'm still having problems with my SQL statements; I think my syntax, particularly with respect to my WHERE statement, is off but I can't find any documentation as to why. When I run a query from within the Access2007 database, it looks like this: SELECT

Mail dates
Where exactly does dovecot get the date that it reports via IMAP? I have a lot of messages that were restored from an archive and so all have the same date, despite being over the span over several years. I tried setting the timestamps of the files to the date in the Received header, but that didn?t seem to make any difference to what my IMAP clients see. Do I have to rename the files to the

StatsRus and wiki
Hi Jack: Based on what you wrote in your mail about your hypothesis, I recommend you "StatsRus" website by Prof Paul Johnson. It's an excellent collection of R code snippets, and a veritable online oyster containing pearls of his wisdom :). Here is the link: www.ku.edu/~pauljohn/R/Rtips.html This set of "R solutions" is focused on performances (action oriented

Lookups in R
Hey all; I'm a beginner++ user of R, trying to use it to do some processing of data sets of over 1M rows, and running into a snafu. imagine that my input is a huge table of transactions, each linked to a specif user id. as I run through the transactions, I need to update a separate table for the users, but I am finding that the traditional ways of doing a table lookup are way too slow to

Asterisk / Hylafax
On the subject of faxing - is there a way to interface Asterisk and Hylafax running on the same box? I have tried the directions at- http://www.voipinfo.org/wiki/view/T38modem+configuration+with+Asterisk and I just can't get it to work. Does anyone know of a way? (Even mention paid software)... Applying function with separate dataframe (calibration file) supplying some inputs
Hello, I am not entirely sure the subject line captures what I am trying to do, but hopefully this description of the problem will help folks to see my challenge and hopefully offer constructive assistance. I have an experimental setup where I measure the decrease in oxygen in small vials as an organism, such as an oyster, consumes the oxygen. Each vial is calibrated before the experiment and

xenstore situation
Hi folks Some time ago I split out the xenstore utils out of the main utils package. I thought myself what could possibly be wrong and found nothing. I was wrong. Xen upstream decided to break the protocol between the client library and the daemon in a subtle way. This was compensated with a change in the daemon. Earlier versions of the library used the kernel access method as default. There is

Five functions proposed for base
Dear r-devel, Among the R functions I have written and later shared with colleagues, there are five that I hope will become a part of the R base package. The tasks are neither specific nor marginal, so rather than creating one more 'misc' package, I would be happy if the R Development Core Team would adopt these functions and hammer them into shape. The functions are available from

include statement in smb.conf
Hello, I'm wondering if it possible to use the %G variable to include config file based on group membership. Basically, my setup is this: Samba configured as a member of a Active Directory Domain using WinBind for authentication and account management. I want the ability to have a different config file loaded for a Students and Staff. Is this even possible?? Thanks in advance!!

OT: programming language for morons (newbie friendly language in Open Source world)
Hi folks I have more than 12 years experience with UNIX system administration, but I am too stupid for programming. My only programming experience is shell scripting. I tried to learn Java, but don't understand it because it is too complicated for my limited brainpower. What programming language should I learn? A friend said that C-Sharp (Mono) is very simple. Is this true? cheers Sven

Freelance Rate
Hi, Not sure where to address this question ... but I guess this is a good start. I am a freelance Rails developer - and have been developing Rails apps professionally for about a year now. I just want to get an idea of what you other freelancers charge yourselves out at. I have been charging the equivalent of about $28/hour, but get a sense that I could/should charge a whole lot more. I am
