FW: backupexec
If you can see the server, but not shares, you most likely have not published any directories. What version of the BE agent are you using? I've noticed 4.6 works well (the install actually works well and will walk you through the setup to publish the directories to be backed up). It's often easier to just publish root (but exclude /proc /tmp). Also, I've found out that in the hosts

adding machines to a pre 3 pdc
...ok both of the settings out and everything seemed happy until I tried adding machines. I have tried adding w2k and nt4sp6 both with no luck.. The config worked and was running as a test pdc for the last year or so until this upgrade. unable to get pushed drivers to work with hp plotters
...dule. * Looked at the oh so wonderful hp site for newer drivers to down load but of course they want me to order a CD. The system is a up-to-date debian sid box running Samba version 2.2.5-1. And has run perfectly, with the exception of this. Hints? Questions? Please ask. -- *--* Mail: lawrence@otak.com *--* Voice: 425.739.4247 *--* Fax: 425.827.9577 *--* HTTP://www.otak-k.com/~lawrence/ -------------------------------------- - - - - - - O t a k i n c . - - - - -

Can't 'save-as' from MS Word
Samba Gurus, I've got a Solaris box running samba 2.0.7. A couple of users on Windows XP clients are reporting problems saving files from within MS Word, and Wordpad to the samba share, which of course is a mapped drive. They get an error saying "This is not a valid file name".... These XP boxes do have the reg hacks plainpassword.reg and signorseal.reg installed. The work around

Debian Samba Versions
Hopefully a simple question. Does anyone know of .deb or .dsc files for Samba Version 2.2.4, 2.2.5, 2.2.6, or 2.2.7? The only packages available from Debian are: 1. Stable - Samba 2.2.3 2. Testing - Samba 2.2.3 3. Unstable - Samba 30alpha20-4 I've looked on the debian website and in google with no luck. Any help much appreciated? IRV

Autocad file corruption...
I am having problems with autocad file corruption. My users are draftsman and access project files via samba over the network. This problem occurs after a file has been worked on and someone attempts open a file that they were working on. There is no indication of a problem while the file is open and being worked on. But when they try to re-open it, autocad thinks the file is corrupt and it

So SAMBA no longer supports print driver downloads
So SAMBA no longer supports print driver downloads. That is about the only conclusion that I can come to at this point. I've not been able to get Windows printer driver downloads to work right since Samba 2.2.2. No one but printer admins displays the correct settings for printers, everyone else gets the original printer defaults that they cannot change. I've tried this with

SeBackupPrivilege
We're using Samba 3.0.21a-1 on a CentOS 4.2 server (kernel 2.6.9-22.0.2.ELsmp); everything works more or less fine, it's functioning as the PDC with an OpenLDAP back end (setup essentially straight from the Idealx.org playbook), etc. We're trying to mount Windows shares to back them up, and getting "permission denied" errors when trying to read certain files from those

Sieve management without shell access or homedir
Hi. Is there some user friendly application (web based, maybe a webmail addon) that can help a user manage their sieve filtering? My mail users don't have any shell access to the mail host. Most users won't have a regular home directory either. Can I store this sieve information someplace else? Either directly in LDAP, or in some database, or a common directory for all user's
