Is it possible to make rsync VMware split .vmdk's aware?
...k's What happens: Sometimes, because of the defragment within the VM or Exchange, the disk layout changes so much that a split .vmdk file that was very little and now becomes filled with 2Gb data. As a result rsync has to transfer 2Gb of data for that .vmdk which takes a lot of time. In my opnion that's not nessesary because the data is probably available in another split .vmdk because it was moved across the virtual disk. My question: Is it possible to make an option in Rsync which reads out the vmdk config file for the split disks so it can search for known data across all the sp...

DGD patch not detecting dead gateway
Hello all! I applied http://www.ssi.bg/~ja/routes-2.6.8-10.diff patch to kernel 2.6.8.1 and it works fine, or almost fine. It does the load balancing well, but when one link is dropped it continues to try it. At the end of http://www.ssi.bg/~ja/nano.txt it is said to ping gateway 1 and gateway 2, for the kernel to know if that route is working, but since my linux is connected to the links

R v/s S-plus
Hi all, I have Splus and R both on my unix machine. I intend to keep only one of them. R looks to be a better choice. But I want to confirm. Is there any function or group of functions in Splus that are absent in R? sftp client
As of Sunday evening, OpenSSH has an interactive sftp client. It should be in the more recent snapshots. It would be appreciated if you could test new client and find all the bugs :) Please also have a read of the manpage and ensure that it matches what is implemented. I am working on fixing the ones that I know about, so please try to stay up to date with the snapshots. Thanks, Damien

Xenoprof in an HVM domain
I''m looking into getting Xenoprof to tun in an HVM domain, since we will eventually need a profiler for HVM domains to track down areas of poor performance. (HVMs have poor performance? :) ) Being relatively new to OProfile, Xenoprof, and Xen internals, I would appreciate any pointers, tips, and comments on how to work the implementation. I see three basic areas of work. 1. Implement
