Uniden UIP200 Opinions
Hi, I've read through the archives, and wanted to get an updated opinion on the Uniden UIP200 phone. Seems like there were a lot of opinions that it was a good phone, but there were a few items that people were waiting for firmware updates for, but that was in 2004. I'm going to be using them in an office, 12 phones, on a LAN connected to an asterisk box. Thanks...

C6, lightweight window managers - opinions?
So, on my old Netbook, now happily running C6.9, I'm looking for opinions for a lightweight window manager. Gnome surely ain't it.... Years back, I used to like IceWM, but not sure it's been kept up. So, opinions? mark

Opinion on R plots: connecting X and Y
Attention R users, especially those that are experienced enough to be opinionated, I need your input. Consider the following simple plot: x <- rnorm(100) y <- rnorm(100) plot(x, y, bty='n') A colleague (and dreaded SAS user) commented that she thought that my plots could be "cleaned up" by connecting the X and Y axes. I know that I can do that wit...

Opinions on Release Numbering
...y in regards to changes to the way we manage open source Asterisk releases. The changes that we eventually decide on will determine how we manage the 1.6 version of Asterisk. I will be posting much more detailed information about 1.6 in the near future. What I'm looking for right now is some opinions on version numbering. Part of the working plan for Asterisk 1.6 involves making release candidates for every 1.6.X release, so that various community members can help with doing regression testing on the changes before making the release. I proposed calling the release candidates 1.6.3-rc1, 1.6....

iax.cc opinion request
I am considering using iax.cc (sixtel) and wondering if anyone had opinions, good or bad. Are there outages with any regularity? How responsive are tech support? How is packet loss? I am particularly interested in termination to the UK, but will accept any comments people have. Thanks -- Trixter http://www.0xdecafbad.com Bret McDanel UK +44 870 340 4605 Germa...

Opinions of Sphinx?
...planning a system of 120 SIP or PRI channels using speech recognition (fixed grammar of 500 words) menus. I could use a Cisco router and VoiceXML, but would prefer not to on cost grounds. Has anyone tried Asterisk and Sphinx (bonus points if in a production environment)? If so, what's your opinion on quality of recognition, stability, resource usage, etc? Anyone have any recommendations of other speech recognition products (commercial considered) that work with Asterisk? -- Alistair Cunningham, Integrics Ltd, +44 (0)7870 699 479 http://integrics.com/

[V2V PATCH 0/5] Bring support for virtio-scsi back to Windows
...d boot a Win guest with a virtio-scsi > disk controller. So please consider the following implementation of > this feature. > > [1] https://github.com/libguestfs/virt-v2v/issues/12 (Preamble: I'm 100% deferring to Rich on this, so take my comments for what they are worth.) In my opinion, the argument made is weak. This cover letter does not say "why" -- it does not explain why virtio-blk is insufficient for *Virtuozzo*. Second, reference [1] -- issue #12 -- doesn't sound too convincing. It writes, "opinionated qemu-based VMs that exclusively use UEFI and only v...

Opinions on preferred namespace?
Hi Any opinions on a preferred namespace setting for use with Dovecot? Deciding factors seem to be client support, not being too unusual, accidental ease of setup, wider character range support (eg dots in folder names?), issues when scripting imap commands? For example Outlook Express (common with our userba...

Implementation of TLS OCSP Stapling
...yers as Google take TLS encryption very seriously: https://googleblog.blogspot.nl/2016/02/building-safer-web-for-everyone.html So I would like to know if Dovecot is planning to feature OCSP stapling. That way I know for sure my "must staple" certificates can be used by Dovecot. And in my opinion, every TLS offering daemon should be up to par to the capabilities of TLS.. Not lag behind :) What's your opinion on this matter? Thanks in advance for any anwser! Greets, Osiris

[OT] DNS - asking for your opinion
Hi list, I first apologise because this is really off topic, but I would really appreciate your opinion on this. I have had a very hard time configuring a DNS server to answer reverse dns queries, and I would like to have your opinion on my provider behaviour. We have 3 classless subnets and asked the provider to delegate reverse dns. They configured their server and emailed me all was fine but i...
