Regarding freedesktop.org and Compiz
We were a little imprecise in our original announcement with regards to moving away from freedesktop.org, which seems to have caused some confusion. We are only moving away from the freedesktop.org infrastructure. NOT the standards. By moving away from freedesktop.org, we are: - Shutting down bug-submission on bugs.freedesktop.org. We will be using bugs.opencompositing.org which will soon be

extra plugins for 0.5.0?
Hi, is anybody already working on porting the extra plugins (those ported over from beryl) to compiz 0.5.0? I'm especially thinking about the animation plugin. Or is this something to be addressed post-unification? CU all Matthias -- Matthias Hopf <mhopf@suse.de> __ __ __ Maxfeldstr. 5 / 90409 Nuernberg (_ | | (_ |__ mat@mshopf.de Phone

Unifying mailing lists and bug trackers
Excuse the cross posting, but it underlines the entire point quite nicely. After the merge of Compiz and Beryl, we've still got two projects. That in itself isn't a huge problem, but it's a bit problematic with regards to mail (what list to choose?) and bug trackers. Since we get very little traffic on these e-mail lists, I suggest we shut down the dev@ list at

EZoom and system freeze
Hi I used the enhanced zoom functionality quite often. However, recently I have run into a somewhat annoying bug (I suppose it's a bug somewhere). If I zoom out to the level of no zoom using the mouse wheel, my system sort of hangs. I can move the pointer, but there's no interaction with anything (i.e. the mouse pointer does not change) and my only option is to turn of my laptop by

Dissappearing gnome terminal contents
Hi. I was not able to find any notice of this issue in either the forums or bugzilla (http://bugs.opencompositing.org/) (is that still used btw) so I am posting it here in the hope that it is useful to someone. I am using gentoo and gnome 2.20 and the compiz version from git sources. When I maximize (vertically, horizontally, both) a gnome-terminal window the contents of the terminal window

KDesktop 3 transparency patch
Hello, this patch adds support for real transparency to kdesktop. It adds two new composite manager related features. To activate the features kdesktop has to be started with the "--bg-transparency" option. The first one allows you to change the opacity of the background image. This works currently with the beryl transparent cube and will also work with compiz once the transparent

Zoom plugin changes
I'm sorry for being rude, but I am quite upset by this, because it has gone too far. I posted a few weeks ago that I was going to be working on zoom over the summer to improve the accessibility, and I have already begun to do that. Every step of the way I have made frequent commits to opencompositing.org and described the progress in my blog. I asked for information about what your (David)

Compiz 0.8 branched
I just branched for 0.8, since Danny told me there was no reason not to. There are still some bugs to work out of course, but since development has been quiet lately, I figure it's time to branch so that we can: 1. Eventually get to the next stable release 2. Allow people to work more freely on master On my personal list of things I want to see working better before a 0.8 release, I have

state plugin
hi, I saw that Mike Dransfield tried to port 'state' plugin from beryl. What does it do? It should be able to place windows, based on name, class etc., to specific viewports. I recently converted to compiz window manager from WindowMaker (used it for 8 years), and I miss automatic 'pinning' of specific windows to particular workspace (or viewport in this case). Mike's

Problems with _NET_WM_FULLSCREEN_MONITORS and screen refreshing
re, all... I tried to create an account on bugs.opencompositing.org to report this, but I never got an e-mail back from the account-creation process. Is this the right URI to be reporting bugs for Compiz? Anyway, I've found a couple of bugs that affect applications that use the _NET_WM_FULLSCREEN_MONITORS EWMH hint. I believe these are regressions since Compiz 0.8.0, but am not 100% sure.

Compiz 0.9.0 is Released!
Compiz 0.9.0 is released! This is the first unstable release of the Compiz 0.9 series. This release represents a complete rewrite of the 0.8 series from C to C++, brings a whole new developer API, splits rendering into plugins, switches the buildsystem from automake to cmake and brings minor functionality improvements. This release represents the first developer and tester preview of what will

Enhanced Zoom cursor in 0.7.6
Does Compiz-0.7.6 solve the problem with the 'waiting' cursor being invisible when using the Enhanced Zoom plugin? I see mention of 'various bugfixes' but I couldn't find the appropriate bug to check it's status. Thanks. More clear CCSM messages
Hello, Would it be possible to have someone knowledgeable about the inner working of Compiz to change the messages CCSM uses (which can be found here<http://gitweb.opencompositing.org/?p=compiz;a=blob;f=metadata/core.xml.in;h=8fa18ab503a4c245a6f77582706d29bbbb654cc5;hb=HEAD>) to be understandable to us not really technical people? One example would be the 'Sync To VBlank' option. I

compiz-scheme. Interactive prompt and example startup file.
Beyond the general work on compiz-scheme (new wrappings, hooks, code improvements, etc), I've added a few large new things: 1. Key bindings with modifiers. This lets you from any of your scheme files/interactive prompt bind an arbitrary key + modifier to an arbitrary scheme function. So you can define new Compiz behaviors and shortcuts on the fly. 2. An interactive prompt. This sets up a

Annoying gconf/ccsm behavior
Fedora 10 ships with compiz and launches it as: compiz --ignore-desktop-hints glib gconf This causes compiz to load the glib and gconf plugins at startup. This works fine. The problem arises when the gconf database does not include those plugins in /apps/compiz/general/allscreens/options/active_plugins. What happens is that the plugins get loaded at startup, and after all the

Plugin Interface for Decoations
Hi, this email is basically the result of a small discussion which made me think what the real end-goal of my work on Emerald-2 would be. Since Emerald has already a extensible system (Engines) I thought about giving the engines wider access, so that they are more like plugins. However the first thing needed is a nice plugin API. The base for that is the new settings backend of Emerald-2.

Some suggestions for extra metadata
Here are a few extra attributes which I have not seen mentioned yet which I think would be useful. Any comments would be appreciated. *Version* The version of the plugin, I think the reasons for this are obvious. <version> <major>0</major> <minor>1</minor> <patch>0</patch> </version> *Addition to features* Just add an attribute to
