Can R handle graphic text ? I mean something like a pop-up message

Something similar has been done for Perl/CPAN (see
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/perl/g-cpan.xml) and this may be an
option for CRAN.
Any and all comments and thoughts are more than welcome.

Hope that helps,

Problems reshaping data with cast()

a negative index in this data? I had previously melted the data into
this format.
Apologies for not providing a reproducible example, I suspect the
problem lies within the data structure I'm using.
Thanks for reading this question,

Logical statements and subseting data...
...ntries on precedence, but can't work out
why the above is happening?
Whats particularly perplexing (to me) is that the test for exact
equality works, but not for inequality?
I feel like I'm missing something blatantly obvious, but can't work
out what it is.
Cheers,

I use it to generate graphs when I run scripts remotely or via batches
and don't have a graphical display.

CRAN task view for genetics
Hello to everyone!
I have built CRAN task view for genetics. For now I have not submit it
to CRAN yet and it can be accessible from:
http://www.bfro.uni-lj.si/MR/ggorjan/software/R/Genetics.html
http://www.bfro.uni-lj.si/MR/ggorjan/software/R/Genetics.ctv
I have not submitted it to CRAN, since I would like first some opinion
about it. Genetics is really so broad field that I belive one person

Slightly OT - use of R
I am trying to get a measure of how R compares in usage as a statistical
platform compared to other software. I would guess it is the most widely
used among statisticians at least by virtue of it being open source.
But is there any study to which I can refer? By asking this list I am not
exactly adopting a rigorous approach!
Best wishes

columns, all thats changing is the names of the two columns that are

If anyone can provide any insight to what I'm doing wrong I'd be very grateful.
Thanks,

Linux Distribution Choice
I am making some tentative steps into using Linux (Mandriva at the moment)
and notice that not all the Linux binaries on CRAN are the latest release.
As R (plus Grass) will be key programs for me on Linux, is there a preferred
Linux distribution that people in the R communiuty use?
Many thanks,
Graham

CRAN installation under Gentoo
Hi,
Not really a request for help, but I thought it would be useful to others
who use Gentoo (http://www.gentoo.org/) to know that you can now install
CRAN and bioconductor packages using Gentoo's package management systme
Portage
(http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=2&chap=1)
This is thanks to the efforts of Auke Booij as part of his Google Summer of

CRAN Taskviews returns 404
The CRAN Taskviews (http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/Views/) is
currently unavailable and returns 404 Object not found!
This is possibly due to them now being linked from the side frame and the
URL now being http://cran.r-project.org/web/views/
Unfortunately the webmaster link on the 404 page does not have any email
address associated with it, hence the mail to the list.
