Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 installation failed.
I get to a decent point where the installation is initializes but I get a nostalgic error report with the problems being two .tmp files. Any ideas for this? Also, the new Wine update makes the Sony Vegas 7 installation work flawlessly which didn't wasn't the case before...

a simple Asterisk AMI interface with Delphi (or Lazarus+FreePascal)
...d, if interested, (or if you hate to read
manuals, just ), download the quick-start version which only
requires 3 settings in Asterisk's manager.conf file (the user name,
the password, and the read/write privileges - program defaults to
the 5038 port).
The program was really written as a nostalgic cruise down the old
Pascal OOP thruway, and not as a contender to the likes of FOP,
etc. Pascal has nice features such as declaring any of your
functions "inline"; or for that matter writing inline Assembler code
which was "the" language in the '70s (that is the 1900...

Questions about IPX

Hello everyone,
I dug up a copy of Command & Conquer Gold the other day, and
now I've been trying to get it running under Linux for nostalgic
reasons ;-).
The game itself runs fine, however, I'd be truly happy if I
also had network play. Unfortunately, even though the most
recent Wine (20040914) seems to contain some IPX code, the
game still refuses to recognize its presence.
Have I missed some configure parameter, or does IPX need...

I think I've just about reencoded all my beta2's so far, then I still
have some beta4's and RC3's lying around, maybe one CD encoded with RC2.
Quite nostalgic, hehe.

high density SAS
Well Solaris SAS isn''t there yet but anyway just found some interesting
high density SAS/SATA enclosures.

The XJ 2000 is like the x4500 in that it holds 48 drives, however with
the XJ 2000 2 drives are on each carrier and you can get to them from
the front.
I don''t like xtore in general but the 24 bay (2.5" SAS) and 48

Ruby, Rails & Linux - Which distro ??
Hi,
I''ve been doing most of my initial playing with rails on a windows
system - but wish to switch to a dedicated linux box for this.
Are there any particular distro''s to avoid / recommend. I prefer debian
for my other stuff, but thought i''d ask before going ahead. :)
Cheers

Chi-Square Test Disagreement
I was asked by my boss to do an analysis on a large data set, and I am
trying to convince him to let me use R rather than SPSS. I think Sweave
could make my life much much easier. To get me a little closer to this
goal, I ran my analysis through R and SPSS and compared the resulting
values. In all but one case, they were the same. Given the matrix

Will it be possible for Wine to run gaming emulators?
...imple
in their programming details.
Will it be possible in a near future for Wine to run these kinds of gaming
emulators of old gaming consoles? Or is it already possible while I have not
done what is necessary?
I wish our brilliant programmers could fix this problem for the sake of the
fans of nostalgic games like myself. Having just recently bought Macbook
Pro, I'm quite frustrated that I may have to quit playing my favorite games.
So please someone take care of this problem when the next version of Wine
comes up.
p.s: I will be more than happy to hear about any revisions in Wine
configurat...

Reminiscing on 20 years using S

command is pure luxury in comparison (I just need to remember to
appreciate little things like that more).
It is amazing how much the S language (S-plus and R) have
changed/improved in the last 20 years. Thanks to all the great people
who have contributed and thanks for letting me wax nostalgic for a bit.

gam()
Dear all,
I've now spent a couple of days trying to learn R and, in particular, the
gam() function, and I now have a few questions and reflections regarding
the latter. Maybe these things are implemented in some way that I'm not yet
aware of or have perhaps been decided by the R community to not be what's
wanted. Of course, my lack of complete theoretical understanding of what

I love form_for, but I really hate
<% form_for :person, @person, :url => {...} do |f| %>
...
<%= render :partial => ''form'', :locals => {''f'' => f}
...
<% end %>
I''ve been thinking of instead allowing
<% form_for :person, @person, :url => {...} do |f| %>
...
<%= f.partial ''form''
