2.2.0 panics with quotas and no rpc.rquotad on NFS server
Samba 2.2.0 on SPARC Solaris 8 Configured with: ./configure --with-pam --with-syslog --with-quotas --with-msdfs --with-acl-support I am accessing the share \\server\mgerdts, which is itself an automounted (NFS) directory. That is, /home/mgerdts on server really exists on nfsserver. On nfsserver, rquotad is commented out of inetd.conf. Using smbclient (2.0.7, yeah I know) I do: smbclient //server/mgerdts smb: \> ls ... NFS problem?
...client, the transfer is unexpectedly stalled and "nfs server xxx:/a: not responding" is reported. A long time (about 10-20 minutes) later, the operations are finished. During the stall, tcpdump on the server says repeatedly the following: 23:44:43.050494 nfsclient.1731995803 > nfsserver.nfs: 1472 write [|nfs] (frag 33263:1480@0+) 23:44:43.050506 truncated-ip - 2 bytes missing! nfsserver > nfsclient: udp (frag 33263:224@1480) Did anyone experience this symptom? NFS resources, how to check version
...o check its version? I see there is nfsstat -e option which shows delegs and locks. But all other ones are combined with nfsv3 I guess (On Ubuntu there are separate lines: v3 and v4) and on the client side, is it possible to check which version is exported or mounted? something like % showmount -e nfsserver Is forcing mount to use nfsv4 100% sure? (mount -t nfs -o nfsv4 ....) and btw. Is forcing mount to use -sec=krb5 (with -sec=sys:krb5:krb5i:krb5p in /etc/exports) also 100% sure? because it mounts and doesn't give ticket for nfs/nfsserver. So, I guess if -sec=krb5 is not available, it mounts w...

a single nfs file system shared out twice with different permissions
I am trying to configure a system where I have two different NFS shares which point to the same directory. The idea is if you come in via one path, you will have read-only access and can''t delete any files, if you come in the 2nd path, then you will have read/write access. For example, create the read/write nfs share: zfs create tank/snapshots zfs set sharenfs=on tank/snapshots root

unattended install via nfs
Hello, Does anyone have a guide for setting up an nfs server for unattended deployment of centos5? Basically what i want to do is boot a system from CD media, pass a boot parameter nfs, and ks= options then walk away, the box goes out to the nfs server, finds the kickstart file, reads, and does it. I've got several machines and i'd rather not do manual installs. Thanks. Dave.
