MGE Pulsar M 3000 - newmge-shut?
Hello all,
I wonder if the improvements to a driver called "newmge-shut" which have
been mentioned in October 06 got it to the 2.0.5 release?
I tried my setup again with this release and still get this
"communication lost -> established -> lost -> established" cycle.
USB was not working because of the Solaris 8 installation.

newmge-shut warning (was: MGE Ellipse 800 shutdown problems)
I'm now doubting if I've made this statement or not, so here it is:
newmge-shut is *not* ready for production usage!
I've lately found some bugs during the MGE PSP 3.0.4/3.0.5/3.0.6 updates.
So for the moment, prefer to keep using mge-shut.

upsd flapping in the breeze
Hi,
I have had a long standing problem with NUT talking to 110V MGE UPSs on
FreeBSD, I was recently investigating again and noticed that upsd seems
overly noisy, eg..

May 5 03:50:36 egbert upsd[96662]: Data for UPS [ups1] is stale - check driver

NUT MGE Pulsar Ellipse Premium 800: Changed NUT rw variables?
Hello all,
I've got an MGE Pulsar Ellipse Premium 800 powering a couple of FreeBSD
systems. Driver used is mge-shut, I don't know what the new mge-shut
driver offers, but I follow the "if it works, don't fix it" dogma here. :)
I also had a nut server installed on the master, with the
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/nut script slightly modified to include a couple of
upsrw commands

MGE Ellipse 800 shutdown problems
Thanks for suggetions and keep me indumb about making of Debian packages:D
I will try this package "nut_2.2.0-2_i386.deb"
One little questionm, shoud I use newmge-shut driver? - my ups is quite
old - more then 3 years, connected through serial cable.

It looks like the suggested driver for that model is usbhid-ups:

The web page seems to be slightly behind.
I'll let Arnaud comment as to whether the SHUT...

eaton evolution not shutting down
Hi all,
I just changed my old MGE ellipse for a evolution 850 (now eaton). I can
connect using mge-shut (newmge-shut doesn't work). But I have a few
issues. I lloked around on NUT web-site and googled with no luck.
Using debian lenny on 2.6.18 kernel (due to some ISDN driver that
doesn't work with earlier kernels)
1) the most annoying is that I cannot shutdown the UPS. here is a trace :

Differences between USB and serial on an MGE Pulsar Evolution 3000
Hi,
I've been using NUT for many years to look after the UPS on my home
servers. Originally I was using a Compaq R3000 but that was replaced
with an MGE Pulsar Evolution 3000 about a couple of years ago because
the Compaq one was just too noisy!
I'm just setting up a replacement server and would like to connect it
using a serial cable as I've found that the USB connection

Thanks for quick response!
I realized this and forget this setting!

Availability of the driver for MGE* Network Management Cards (mge-xml)
...offers similar services to the MGE Network Shutdown Module
proprietary software.
It's still in beta since it's really recent, and lack some features to
be 100 % complete, but it's already quite stable and provides a lot of
data.
It's also using the common HID core, as usbhid-ups and newmge-shut,
and so support the same data set (ie still no 3 phase data). The next
development step will be the Notification support (UPS broadcasted
alarms).

mge-shut don't reboot ups by default
Hi
I have Pulsar 1000 (MGE) and mge-shut 2.0.5-3.
By default mge-shut don;t reboot ups after upsmoc -c fsd, only permanent
powerdown.
After I add ondelay=30 in config, all nice, ups restarted after 10 sec.
But according man mge-shut ondelay measured in tens of seconds and by
default equal 3.

Windows port delivery 1 and call to test
...ive and will be addressed in following releases (a GUI is under development in Eaton).
The goal is to integrate the Windows branch for NUT 2.8.0, but this needs code cleanup and review.
The following drivers has been successfully tested on real hardware:
- netxml-ups
- usbhid-ups
- snmp-ups
- newmge-shut
- mge-utalk
The following driver is known to be non-working :
- genericups
NUT can be run either with command-line or via the Windows services
feature. As a service, NUT output is made through Windows Event Log.
The present package works on Windows XP and above. It is not yet compatible...

UPS restart delay
Hi,
I have an Eaton/MGE EX 11 RT UPS (uses the mge-shut driver) and while I was testing it I found that it would turn back on straight after power was restored.
I had a look but I couldn't find a setting which would let me tell it to charge to (say) 50% before turning the load back on.
Does anyone know if this is possible? A setting like this would provide some hysteresis for successive

MGE Pulsar EX over serial problem (FreeBSD)
We have several systems in remote locations and I have found that the ones in
the US are having issues.. We are an Australian company and can't source a
110V UPS locally so we arrange to have one bought for the site when it's
installed.
It seems that in the US we are getting "Pulsar EX 1500" UPSs but locally we
buy "Pulsar 1500". NUT seems to work find with the
