Domain Administrator cannot map Samba Share from Windows 7
...that host using the
credentials of other domain users (actual users).
I probably shouldn't have used that account in the first place, but I did. Is there a way
around this or do I have create a new domain account for this purpose?
Problem #2:
In one of the SQL Server scripts, I have:
SET @NetworkPath = '\\OHPRSstorage\Backups\SQLServerBackup\'
which used to work before I changed OHPRSstorage (the Samba file server) to be a domain member
and do AD authentication. This script is run as SQL Server user 'sa', which likely has no
authorization to access the NetworkPath. I'm not...

Microsoft Fax
Hello,
does anyone has some Information about M$ Exchanges Fax. If you
configure Exchange there is an Option about Fax. If you go there, you
can say you have the Modem on your PC or you can say it is in the
Network and you have to put in the Networkpath. It would be great to
use this with Samba but at this time I think Samba doesnt
support it. Maybe someone has some Information for me how I can use
this whith my Linux-Box or some Information if the Samba Crew is
planning to implement this Feature.
Thanks

Windows Policies and Samba 2.0.4b - More information
Hello all,
I wrote yesterday about problems with Windows policies and Samba 2.0.4b
yesterday. Since then, I've had someone ask for a more detailed
explanation, so here it is.
Samba currently provides domain logons for a number Windows 95 and 98
clients (as well as the standard file serving). The domain logon currently
succeeds, a user's username and password is accepted and the client

nt can't map network drive
...by this problem for a long time and really hope that
someone may help by giving suggestions.
I have setup Samba 2.0.5 on a "Digital" Tru64 as a file server. When I
want to map a network drive with win95 or 98 everything is alright. If I
use nt 4 (SP5) then the computer does not find the networkpath.
I have also setup Samba 2.0.4b on my machine. The configuration file is
the same as samba 2.0.5. When i use NT i am able to map the network
drive. Strange, isn't it? In my opinion there must be a switch that
changed from no to yes, but which one? Am I right?
Thank you for your attentions.

ntconfig.pol not loaded
hi samba community and team !
I' m playing with policies under win2k/samba3/ntconfig.pol/poledit
It worked at first, but now seems my win2k test machine doesn't want to load the
ntconfig.pol located into \\mysmbpdc\netlogon
I've seen some threads about the same prob. but none with a solution.
I know there is a project with an "editreg" tool planned.
But for now I would like

Samba 1.9.17 server is not showing up in PDC browser list.
Hi,
I've just upgraded to Samba 1.9.17, but I can't get my samba server that
resides in a differnet subnet to show up in the PDC's browse list. I've got
samba configured as the local browse master and am registering with the wins
server with:
domain master = no
local master = yes
preferred master = yes
os level = 65
wins support = no

Samba as PDC with WinXP Clients -> headache!!
Hi.
my last post was about upscale configuration for my WinXP clients,
because I believed I had it working, but ...
Next day I booted the client and .... it wouldnt let me log onto the
domain again. :-(
I am using Samba 2.2.8a with Ldap backend which works great in workgroup
mode.
Joining the domain is very easy and works well, but then after rebooting
I get:
