accessing linux shares from windows (windows shares from linux works fine)
I can't seem to access linux shares from windows.
it will show the server in network neiborhood but when i try to access it,
it comes up with somthing like "host not found" or somthing like that.
I can ping the server from windows and even ping it using the host name. i
can even access services running on the server but not samba shares.
I can send my smb.conf if it would help....

user name I added on the line [admin users = adminuser]. Windows XP Pro
just waits a bit and says it can't find the user -- like the user I've
logged in with doesn't exist. BTW, as long as I'm not trying to add the
machine to the domain, I can view the share through Network Neiborhood.
It even asks for a u/p and logs me in. I've not yet been able to test
adding/removing files.

Difference between samba 2.0.0beta4 and NT4.0 ?
Hi Samba-gurus,
I have a problem with samba 2.0.0beta4 on solaris 2.5.1
(samba 1.9.18p10 behaves the same) :
1. I have a ordinary text-file on a samba-share (foo.txt).
NT4.0 sees the samba-share (\\sun100\tmp) as a netdrive
with the letter K:. I've done a 'net use k: \\sun100\tmp'.
2. I can doubleclick in NT4.0-explorer on foo.txt and notepad
comes up correctly.
3. I

I am attempting to setup SAMBA 2.2.0 as a, well, Windows NT Server.
I have setup encrypted passwords, a userid for myself, a userid for my NT machine, and added my machine to the domain successfully.
I can access the samba shares for printers and directories just fine thru network neiborhood.
When I attempt to login to the domain, from my nt machine, I get the error message: "Your userid has been disabled" or something to that effect.
What am I doing wrong or what have I not done?
Thanx in advance....
