Unable to compile R 3.1.3 under GCC 4.1.2 (Red Hat 4.1.2-51)
Hi all,
I'm unable to compile R under an HPC system (which like many HPC systems
doesn't always have the latest and greatest software). The version of
GCC is 4.1.2 under CentOS 5.7. Running ./configure gives the following
output:
R is now configured for x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu

mixed model nested ANOVA
Hi,
I'm working on leaf characteristics of trees. Each tree is characterised by
about 10 leaf traits.
The trees were sampled at 9 different locations (about 20 to 30
trees/location, NOT balanced), grouped in 3 different climatic zones
(Sahelian, Soudanian and Guinean) (NOT balanced).
Further, each tree is characterised by some degree of human pressure
(mutilation degree), in total 4

Setting up samba in a mutil-subnet environment
I have a large fileserver located in the server room
for our university. Its subnet is different from
where the majority of our computers are located, and
so the client machines will not be able to see the
broadcasts.
I'm realativly new to using samba, but my idea is to
move our current PDC(using ldap) and put it on the
fileserver, and put a domain member local(on same
subnet) to our

Query
My research indicates that it is possible to run Excel 97 with standard
wine using a real FAT Windows partition. So far, drawing heavily on
http://www.winecentric.com/ I've been unable to get it to work.
I'm running the 20020904 version, and have mutilated my wine config
nearly beyond repair in an attempt to get excel to run. I've tried
running all native dlls, all builtin, etc, and no matter what I do, it
hangs shortly after putting up the window and must be killed with a -s
9.
I've run it with -debugmsgs +modules and don't get any...

R-devel/Linux x64/Sun Studio 12: Problem with Matrix
Dear Developers,
motivated by the new Sun Studio checks I compiled R-devel and several of
our packages with Sun Studio 12 on Fedora x64.
Everything worked fine and R-devel runs, with the exception of package
Matrix where compilation crashes with the following message. The error
occurs during building of the recommended packages and also if Matrix is
compiled separately:
