[SOLUTION/Summary] ..all my routing / VPN problems.
Right, time to (as someone said) put this thread to a proper rest.
Some of you have probably read my VPN/Routing/Lost packages hassles in the
last week, well, here is the rundown.
Look at http://statler.mupp.net/shorewall/Layout.jpg
Basically.
The shorewall knows the route to the .224.0/24 net is through .221.221.
The systems in .221.0/24 has the FW as their default gw.
The FW could reach hosts in either subnet, but when hosts in either subnet
tried to contact hosts in the other subnet, traffic went...

Do i (this time) need hosts?
Two legged 1.4.2 firewall
zone nwl is eth0 (192.168.221.0/24 ($FW on .205))
zone jvc is eth1 (10.200.47.0/24 ($FW on .253))
Lets suppose i need to allow traffic from nwl to "jvn" which is 10.200.0.0/16
(yes, i do realize that they overlap) and route that traffic to 10.200.47.254?
The router upstream from this one routes 10.200.0.0/16 -> 192.168.221.205 and
i do see

VPN hardware?
I have a NetGear FV318 living in my DMZ, with one of its LAN-ports
living in my LOC zone. What rules are needed in shorewall to allow a
certain subnet to make connections to this device from the net zone?
Do I define it as a tunnel in shorewall/tunnels, or do I just allow some
selected traffic to the DMZ IP? I am not sure which of the docs are
right for me in this case?

problem.

Incorrect function.
OK
i see no errors in the logs, and am really stumped... reading a _file_ in
the share works as expected tho.

[ot] Netscreen and IPSEC.
Sorry for going OT, but this list host an amazing diveristy of networking
knowledge, and i am staring to get a bit desperate.
I need to get a lan-to-lan tunnel working between a Linux firewall
(shorewall) and a Netscreen 25 firewall (ScreenOS 4). ANd i cannot find a
simple useful guide on how to do this. I cannot get it working via isakmpd
or racoon.
So, if someone HAS done this, i would

Hosname for mail-list?
shorewall-users-bounces@lists.shorewall.net H=electric.blarg.net (mail.blarg.net) [206.124.128.61]
It seems that i am no longer getting mail from the shorewall list, since i implemented a check if the HELO matches the reverse of the IP of the client. Now, I know ill have to make exceptions for a few hosts, but i thought i''d point out that the send-server for the shorewall list doesnt

Traffic shaping?
Ok, shaping on Linux is new to me.. so bear with me if i am just stupid.
curtain:/etc/shorewall# grep TC shorewall.conf | grep -v ^#
TCP_FLAGS_LOG_LEVEL=info
TC_ENABLED=Yes
CLEAR_TC=Yes
TCP_FLAGS_DISPOSITION=DROP
curtain:/etc/shorewall#
So it should be enabled, right?
