how to create an mpeg4 mimetype (OT)
Hi All, I think this may be off topic, but since it's through centos 5.2, I'm not sure. Here is what I would like to do: I have created a web page for family to log into and view clips of my new niece. My camera saves these clips in mpeg4 format. What I would like to do is have the web clients click on the link and have either the clip pop up a save dialog or even better, start playing the clip. Right now if the link is clicked it starts downloading right away but the file looks like gibberish. I guess what I am seeing is the...

reading mpeg4 dimensions and flv dimension using ruby
Hey guyz, Well basically what i am trying to do is get ruby to read my video files in so that i can get the dimensions of the video and then place the dimension sizes in my view. The two formats i need to do this with are mpeg4 (h.264) and FLV. Is there anyway i can get rails to access the metadata of these formats and pull the dimensions from the metadata? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

...thout any storage type flags set for now. This can probably be split up somehow later on, but this seems to work. Signed-off-by: Ilia Mirkin <imirkin at alum.mit.edu> Cc: "10.0" <mesa-stable at lists.freedesktop.org> --- Would be great if someone could see if this also makes MPEG4 work on NVA3+. That will only happen if something is really wrong. Might be better to figure out what it might be. Icecast buffers a bit (in order to burst into a client buffer) but it doesn't buffer increasingly over time. That will only happen if the client is falling farther and farther behind, not icecast. mpeg4/xvid/divx vs. theora
Hi there, I have an elementary question. Although theora can be placed in the same class of codecs as MPEG-1, -2, -4 why is there no greater usage of this codec? On the bigger part of web sites trailers or short videos are encoded with some mpeg codec. Why is theora still so rarely used and unfamiliar although it perfomes very well from my point of view? Is it, because - the whole mpeg family is

How to calculate exact bitrate/filesize w/ Vorbis? Plz help
Hi, I'm quite familiar w/ mp3 cbr/abr/vbr encoding, as well as mpeg4 (cbr/vbr,etc). And I can always calc the bit rate for a given file size with: file size * 8000 / length in seconds = kbits/sec Works great w/ mpeg4 + mp3. BUT FOR THE LIFE OF ME: I cannot get oggenc (1.0x version) to give me the file size I want. I calc. it with the above formula, and nothing com...
