samba 4 for new authentication domain?
...es, and print services. I have some domains that have never had a Windows domain that now need Windows AD authentication. I don't need file services and print services, and upgrade is not a problem. Is samba 4 ready for this use case, or should we still go with Microsoft's AD? Thanks! - Morty

patch for password expiration under Solaris?
...oblem relative to an older version of openssh at least as early as last August: http://msgs.securepoint.com/cgi-bin/get/openssh-unix-dev-0108/77.html The patch seems to work on one of my test machines, after some minimal finagling. Is this patch the standard solution to this problem? Thanks! - Morty

BUG: scp -q isn't quiet
If I scp from/to a server that has a banner using scp -q, it still shows the banner. If I ssh -q to the same server, the banner is skipped. scp -o "LogLevel quiet" does the trick, but is excessively cumbersome. - Morty

Bridge-less VM
...: Operation not permitted Checked permissions on /dev/net/tunand it's 666 If I just configure it as a "bridge" connection the domain starts. Then I can use brctl to remove it from the bridge to get what I want. That just proves it possible but with extra steps (Shout out to Rick and Morty) Thoughts?? openssh PTY allocation
...display a prompt. So, for example, back under Solaris 2.6, if you allocated all 128 default PTYs and then login with ssh, the login will just sit there after login without displaying a prompt. But it really isn't hung -- you can run non-interactive commands and see the responses. Thanks. - Morty

--with-pam and expired passwords
...rate to openssh after a couple of years. Problem: after openssh allows a user with an expired password to log in, said user does not have any X11 and agent forwardings that have been set up. This can be a support issue for naive users who don't understand why they can't run X programs. - Morty

Steam Games - Flickering/Flashing Menu during Gameplay.
Hello. I recently installed Steam through Wine 1.0.0, but when I run DOD: Source, Half Life, DOD, or Deathmatch Classic, I experience the same problem. The game loads and runs fine, but the menu screen is flashing over the actual gameplay images every second. It's as if the menu screen is trying to stay on top of the game, but it's struggling to do so. I am using Ubuntu 8.04, Wine 1.0.0

ServerLiesWarning
...lace some sshv1 clients and servers in a modular way, and the "Server Lies" warning (when the server says the key has one more bit than it really has) is causing heartache. Call for testing: OpenSSH-5.9
Hi, OpenSSH 5.9 is almost ready for release, so we would appreciate testing on as many platforms and systems as possible. This release contains a couple of new features and changes and bug fixes. Testing of the new sandboxed privilege separation mode (see below) would be particularly appreciated. Snapshot releases for portable OpenSSH are available from http://www.mindrot.org/openssh_snap/ The
