bundle deprecation
Hi I read that bundles are to be deprecated in 2.10. The BACCO bundle contains three packages (emulator, calibrator, approximator) which I am happy to unbundle. But the 'BACCO' moniker has some considerable cachet for me in terms of recognizability (eg with grant-giving bodies), as it has become an umbrella term for a whole bunch of related statistical functionality of which the three packages are examples. I make heavy use of the word "BACCO" in my publications. If...

Except hat in icecast, you use shout or ices to "make something accessible" and the mountpoint just becomes an artitrary moniker. it's necessary to distinguish different streams this way, as just connecting to: http://server.com:8000 gives you no indication of which of the possibly multiple streams you really want? Expect with "real world" returns?
Is there a way to do something like this? class Foo def self.hello(name) "Hello #{name}!" end end Foo.expects(:bar).with("Carl").once assert_equal "Hello Carl!", Foo.hello Basically, my problem is that once you set an expectation, the original code is never executed and is not tested. However, it''s still very useful to set expectations to

I'm trying to use winamp to set up a remote broadcast. Where do I tell (either icecast or winamp) what the mount point is. When I use the shoutcast source it appears to create a mount moint cammed ice_0. I have no idea where that comes from. I see the /etc/mounts.a...

Someone "cleverly" decided to change the E820 spec in a backwards-incompatible manner! * MEMDISK: default to "safeint". * Adopt the moniker "The Syslinux Project", standard proper noun capitalization, to refer to the project as a whole. Thus, reserve the all-caps "SYSLINUX" to refer to the FAT loader. * mboot.c32: add "-solaris" option to pass DHCP information to the Solaris kernel; required...

...all other sounds directed through the onboard. Everything else is going roughly where I want it, directed by the settings from System > Preferences > Sound. I have also tried all possible DirectSound and WaveOut options in WinAmp to force the output to the correct device, to no avail. As my moniker suggests, I'm very new to Linux, but not to computers in general. Having just switched to 'nix after Vista's SP1 detected my bootloader hack, the recurring theme I seem to have is hardware issues. Having (eventually) managed to get my Nvidia GeForce4 440MX SE 8x AGP video card to wo...

interaction with hardware RAID?
It is well documented that btrfs data recovery (after silent corruption) is dependent on the use of btrfs''s own RAID1. However, I''m curious about whether any hardware RAID vendors are contemplating ways to integrate more closely with btrfs, for example, such that when btrfs detects a bad checksum, it would be able to ask the hardware RAID controller to return all alternate

Speex with PS3 SPE support
Hi Jean-Marc, Jim, Saad has been keeping me in the loop on your recent discussions. Since all of our testing has been against 1.0.5, based on that being the last non-beta version, that's the particular scope of the task that Saad is working on right now. I like what I'm reading about as far as encoder/decoder quality improvements e.g. in the 1.2 betas, and am going to push for

Using a custom library in iTunes
I have installed iTunes in Wine! Yay! However, I have a slight problem. In order for iTunes to be any use to me, I need to access my music library, which is stored on my data partition. Usually, one holds the shift key while opening iTunes, and it gives the option to choose library or create a new one. However, in my Wine install of iTunes, this doesn't work, it just opens it to the default
