Migration from NT4 to W2K3 AD
Are there any gotcha's..... I am currently using winbindd and very successfully integrating my Samba boxes with the NT4 domain structure. The admin who is doing the migration (A corporate person not used to Linux at all) is already nervous about the migration since it involves Linux. Usernames are not supposed to change..but, the authentication domain is going to be a completely new

Win2K3 Server, in Terminal Session,
...I am an administrator on the box, but all my users see their home directory as well. Can you do mapping when logged directly into the machine? What do the samba logs say? Is the samba server forcefully rejecting the connection? disappointed with complete lack of help.
I sent a request for help on the 21st of January....I waited.....I sent it again on the 24th....I waited.... I sent the same question crafted differently on the 25th.... I waited. The help on this list is horrible..... I am sorry for whining. I talk up open source regularly and I help when I can..... but, the claim of "better" support from the open source community because there are so

3 simple questions
Hi. I am running 3.0.20. 1. I would like to have an include statement pointing to user configurations. For a user, say 'mike', the following works: include = /home/mike/smb.conf But this does not: include = /home/%u/smb.conf I am using a very simple config with 'security = user'. What am I doing wrong? I cannot get any log feedback from this ('testparm' says

Can't Install Samba 3.0.14a
I'm running FC3 with its bundled samba 3.0.11-fc3, and I'm trying to update to 3.0.14a. I've downloaded the rpms from samba.org, and (I think) I've backed up the original samba installation--/etc/samba--and I've stopped smb (I had to kill the smbd and nmbd processes; "/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb stop" didn't work). I've also withdrawn (make uninstall) an

Everything was really fine in our lab, but we began experiment serious load problems on the productive servers the morning after the procedure took place. I'll try (briefly) to describe the characteristics of the scenario: Resources: Old Environment: Hardware:

loosing connections after upgrade to 3.09
I had 3.05 running fine with an NT4 domain. I am using SERVER authentication with the machines and users. After the upgrade some of my users are no longer recognized ...or rather they are part of a trusted domain (NT4 -> NT4 trust)....and they do not get authenticated properly....so they can no longer map their home directory. Also, some people are loosing their mapping to their home
