Joining an AD domain when hostname != netbios name
...it always uses the netbios name as the hostname and seems to be resolving the hostname via AD. The OS is x86_64 RHEL5.4 and samba from the RPM samba-common-3.0.33-3.14.el5, winbind is not running when I try to join. So; am I doing something wrong, or is it not possible? Many thanks. -- Jonathan Barber <jonathan.barber at gmail.com>

winbind debugging help.. act 2
Folks, Not even a peep. Did I ask the wrong question or am I on the wrong list? I don't mind pointers to more information.... freebsd-update to 6.4-RELEASE doesn't work
Dear list, I cannot upgrade my 6.3-RELEASE-p7/i386 to 6.4-RELEASE with freebsd-update. I have run: # freebsd-update upgrade -r 6.4-RELEASE and then # freebsd-update install No updates are available to install. Run '/usr/sbin/freebsd-update fetch' first. any ideas? (btw: I've successful updated 6.3REL/amd64 to 6.4-REL) Best regards, Thomas.

Limit on vector evaluation
Dear R Experts, Why I try to run this expression: x<-sapply(rnorm(rep(10,100000),mean=9,sd=1.5),mean) it evaluates the first 10000 values and then stops, but does not return to the command prompt. My cpu keeps running at 100%. When I exit the expression with CTL-C, I then see that x holds 10000 values. How can I evalute the expression 100000 times, or more if I want? Thanks in advance.

facter fails to detect network interfaces with long names
I have Gentoo host where `ifconfig -a` prints long interface names truncated to 9 chars (there is closed bug report [1]). Unfortunately, `facter` uses `ifconfig -a` output to get list of interface names and because of truncation it generates `interfaces` fact with incorrect interface names. Also it fails to retrieve individual interface information with following message for each interface with

Puppet/Nagios/PuppetDB slow performance
Hi all, For months now I''ve been using Puppet with PuppetDB backend to manage my Nagios configs. We now have 1200+ services being checked and including servicedependency, host, hostdependency, command and other Nagios resources being managed, that''s about 3000 resources in total. Unfortunately this means the monitoring server takes about 8 minutes to perform a Puppet run.

[LLVMdev] Query about ARM support in LLVM MC Project
...ity ? If not when would you expect this to occur? 5) The BLOG states that the instruction parser may use a more abstract internal representation than the MCInst used by the instruction encoder requiring an IR lowering phase in the assembler backend. Is this the case for ARM? Thank you Graham Barber Analog Devices Inc.
