HowTos/MigrationGuide
Please (particularly Smooge) review and comment on the new content at http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/MigrationGuide Based heavily on the pieces I added earlier to http://wiki.centos.org/Migration/5 Tried to keep it general. Would assume that we want only one page on Migration with sub-pages for specific versions. I referred to the CentOS 3 FAQ entry on WBEL migration but it would seem to be cleaner to chan...

MigrationGuide and Wiki thoughts.
The discussions on the HowTos/MigrationGuide page[s] back in late March never reached closure. The last suggestion on structuring was that there should be version-specific pages such as HowTos/MigrationGuide/CentOS5. I see the page was linked to from HowTos, and Ralph's comment: 52 2007-04-15 13:16:02 2064 RalphAngenendt Linked to Mig...

HowTos/MigrationGuide adding RHEL-7 -> CentOS-7 migration.
Hi, could I get a permission to add to HowTos/MigrationGuide a guide for conversion of RHEL 7 to CentOS 7? For personal reasons, I had to switch my machines from RHEL to CentOS, and I think it would be helpful to have it there. If it is OK to have migration guides for lower versions of RHEL/CentOS, why not 7? OK, here we go: URLBASE=http://mirror.cent...

Clarification in HowTos/MigrationGuide page
Hi, A little more of clarification :) ... In some wiki pages say that the protectbase and priorities yum plugins can not be used together. It seems that the next paragraph must be updated: ====> Always beware when using/mixing 3rd-party repos. The yum protectbase and/or priorities plugins are your friends. Although both can be used together, using protectbase is probably unnecessary if

Problems switching from RHEL 6 to Centos 6
I am trying to migratean existing RHEL 6 machine to Centos 6. I followed the instructions in https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/MigrationGuide I run into problems: when I run yum upgrade then yum tries to access a repository rhel-6-server-extras-rpms and then fails. What can I do that yum no longer tries to access this repository?

Installing CentOS security updates to RHEL machines? (RHN subscription expired)
Hello, I hope my question is not annoying. I work as sysadmin at a 400 users firm and we have around 20 CentOS 4/5 servers and VMs and CentOS is awesome, thank you! However we have 4 important SAP-servers running RHEL5 and our RHN subscription has unforunately expired and buying it again is not an option right now. Installing CentOS is not an option too, because we'd have to pay for

lost RHEL entitlements
Hello, I have some servers that have lost their RHEL update entitlements. Thinking through it, I realized we may not really need those entitlements. However, I would still like to automate keeping them up to date for security fixes. So, is there any way to swap out the Yum/up2date RHEL repositories for CentOS without breaking things? Thanks! -Eugene

converting a RHEL box to CentOS
Hey folks, Google found nothing in this list archives for me but did find this : http://www.unixmen.com/how-to-jul-convert-rhel-5-to-centos-5/ Before I just go try that on one of my systems can someone confirm that it works? I'm running RHEL 5.7 so I guess I'd replace the 5.4 in the URL with 5.7 Basically I let my RHEL licenses run out (never really used them) and am getting warnings

How to upgrade WBEL4 to CentOS4?
Hi, I've got a couple of servers that are running WBEL4 that I would like to upgrade to CentOS4. I noticed that there is a FAQ which explains how to upgrade WBEL3 to CentOS3, but haven't found anything similar for WBEL4. Are the instructions for the WBEL3 upgrade the same for WBEL4? Should I be doing something else instead? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Eric

Big question: Move to SWIG?
A few days ago, someone asked me why I am using wxpp instead of SWIG. The question prompted me to revisit and re-evaluate SWIG, and I now believe it would be best to convert wxRuby to SWIG. SWIG has greatly improved its C++ support since the last time I looked at it, and I think its Ruby support has improved quite a bit as well. Also, now that I have written wxpp, I understand the nature of

Migration Assistance
Good Afternoon, I have been tasked with migrating a machine sitting on RHEL 5.6 off a rackspace cloud server to a local machine. In order to cut costs we would like to utilize Centos 5.6. I have done quite a bit of research and have as of yet been able to find a clear answer on how to accomplish this. I have installed Centos 5.6 locally and am in a time crunch to complete this. I am hoping that
