APC SMX3000RMLV2UNC with AP9631 NUT compatibility via network
...:
http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=AP9620
I found and started researching NUT, and would prefer using NUT with this APC
and future purchases of NUT-compatible hardware from OEMs other than APC,
e.g. Eaton.
I see a prior thread discussing the unfortunate proprietary microlink protocol:
Subject: Re: APC Smart-UPS 1200

My question is whether microlink is what is actually used for a TCP/IP
connection to the AP9631 network card, or whether another protocol such as SNMP
is available for NUT to use. Even a lower count of UPS metrics via SNMP wo...

calling experiences very choppy sound. There are no breaks in the sound, but
it is very choppy, to the point where a conversation is not possible.
I installed Asterisk from CVS earlier this week. It is running on RedHat 9,
with a XP1600+ Processor, 384MB RAM. The ISDN card is an 'Elsa Microlink
ISDN PCI'.
I've searched through the archives but cannot find a resolution to the
problem. I've tried changing the compression used but this has little or no
effect. Has anyone got any hints or tips?
Thanks,
Nathan.

well, I'm unsure since I'm just opening this "APC Modbus Pandora box"

though the serial version should be Modbus only, I can't say at first if
the USB ones implement if full Modbus over HID or any other mean.
I would need traces to give more info.
anyway, this may not be as generic USB as you think.

To the best of my knowledge, Microlink is not supported by any third-party tools (including NUT), but some variables are exposed via standard USB HID. Apparently, ups.load is not one of them.
Your UPS might support MODBUS:

Does anybody have some idea about what is happening?

sorry. after checking https://www.apc.com/africa/fr/faqs/FA402663/
SMC series has no modbus support. there is currently no microlink
support under nut or apcupsd.

APC SMC1500 question
...I wonder whether there is another version of the usbhid server or another server for this UPS ?
>

if you want to use full usbhid, you need to find APC models which
support it(like Back-UPS Pro).
normally newer APC models only export very few information via
usbhid. newer APC use microlink(no nut driver), some support
modbus(apcupsd driver).

Support for SURTD5000XLI
....current variable is however limited to
only an integer and thus gives quite bad resolution. So I decided to
hook up the UPS with the serial cable instead, but I failed to find a
suitable driver.
The apcsmart driver does not work because the new SURTD line uses a new
type of signaling called "Microlink Serial Protocol":

Does anyone know if NUT has support for this Microlink protocol?

Documenting the NUT driver-qualification process
I think the time for me to get involved in NUT documentation has come
again.
Late last week I had to buy a UPS under time pressure. The Eaton unit
that thus project gifted me with in 2006(?) died during a severe
thunderstorm watch, so it was off to MicroCenter to get a replacement
pronto.
I wound up buying an APC BN700MC. It was what they had in the
performance range I needed. The removable

That is not true. The MODBUS protocol has been documented by APC and
the open source apcupsd program supports it. The proprietary protocol
APC uses is yet another protocol they call microlink. And the UPSLink
protocol that NUT supports is still available via use of an add-on card.
Plus, many of the APC UPSes (the backups line) are simple UPSes
and don't use either the smartlink or the modbus protocol they use a
variant of the old upslink over usb.
Someone could write a driver...

You're right, it's the microlink protocol that they have been promising to release. My mistake. We even have a branch where Arnaud was starting to write some code against libmodbus. However, the documentation seems to lag the introduction of the new products that all of a sudden don't work with existing software.

Back-story:
I've been lead to believe that Eaton is a good Tier 2 UPS vendor (APC
being Tier 1). This microlink business with APC has been driving me away
from them. So I got what I thought would be a good alternative to my
usual APC RS 500's for desktop systems at our remote clients. It is an
Eaton 5110 500VA (103004256-5591).
I also thought it would be a good brand because of what looked like

BRIstuff/QuadBRI problem: Ring requested on unconfigured channel 255/255 span 5
Hi all,
I'm running a stable Asterisk on a HP DL380G2 1.4Ghz 0,5GB RAM
equipped with 1x TE410P and 2xJunghanns QuadBRI running in NT-mode.
Connected to the BRI-Ports are 12 Fax-Modems (Elsa MicroLink ISDN/TL V.34)
which are only operating in dial out analog mode to deliver fax messages.
After a while of running fine (50-200 dial out connections)
on some S0 spans the following message occurs over and over again:
chan_zap.c:8009 pri_dchannel: Ring requested on unconfigured channel
255/255 span...
