Presumably you have already worked out a good password, and memorized it. This change is not going to enforce uniqueness per server. (Though, if this server will be used via SSH, it might be a good idea to do that anyway. SSH keys ? optionally with passphrases ? are more secure than even quite a long human-memorizable password. Disable password auth and use keys....

Sparc?
My 12 year old wants to learn more about servers and has memorized a lot of commands like ls, chmod, du, etc. He wants to have his own domain and server on the web and I have enough Static IP's, so why not foster this interest. I have an old ultra sparc 5. Are there any CentOS versions that support Sparc? Or recommendations? I know OpenBSD does, but I am m...

...y for the allocator to identify if a pointer belongs to that allocator, and if so, deteremine which slab it belongs to and at what offset the object is in that slab. Therefore it is possible to identify the object by its (slab index, offset) pair. Eg., "TypedefDecl 0:528" (you already memorized it) instead of "TypedefDecl 0x7f80a28325e0". This could be applied to all sorts of objects that live in BumpPtrAllocators. In order to compute such identifier, we only need access to the object and to the allocator. No additional memory is used to store such identifier. Such identifi...

Setting up 'cervisia'
Aargh, I'm about to give up. Is there someone who knows how to setup Cervisia on SuSE 9.3? I installed the one bundled with it, but somehow it refuses to produce any traffic whatsoever (I checked with 'iptraf'). No surprise I can't connect to the NUT CVS server. I'm able to use CVS by commandline (ssh keys are uploaded and I no longer have to enter a password, so this works

adduser vs. useradd
Hi, To add a user to the system on the commandline, I usually use the adduser command. # adduser newuser And that's it. I've been using that command probably out of an old habit, since I've been a long-time Slackware user before. But now I wanted to dig a bit deeper, and some details puzzle me. Whereas on Slackware, 'adduser' is an interactive shell script to create a

Wanted: tutorial on troubleshooting SIP issues
For someone that's network-aware, but hasn't sat down and plowed through umpteen SIP-related RFC's and memorized the standards, is there a good primer on troubleshooting SIP issues? I'm seeing a lot of NOTIFY/603 messages on my network between Asterisk and my Sipura 942's, for instance... Not sure what these are... perhaps the qualify keepalives? In which case, I guess the 603 is moot... but s...

domain reinitalization detection
Hello I'm trying to find out how to detect if domain was destroyed and brought up between two time moments, let's call it reads. So far the best approach I could find is to compare domain ID from previous and current read. And this is my first question : is that reliable solution ? Or do you know any better ? And related question is how to resolve virDomainPtr into domain ID ? The

how to flush user input before READ()
Hi how to flush user input before READ()? I wrote a small script to ask for user password before granting access to outside, but some telefones memorize the full user input, including "#". So, when the user press redial, for instance 5556789#123, asterisk accepts the number and the password "123" and gives access to the outside word to whomever redials that terminal. Any
