html command index
Dear list, I use R 1.3.0 on Solaris. Today I realized that the html help search engine does not work at the moment (this means that I always get the search engine page again if I try to specify a search word, and click "search" or one of the prespecified topics), presumably since the latest netscape update. Do you have an idea what can be wrong? Perhaps this must be fixed not by the

jitter-bug? problematic behaviour of the jitter function
Dear all, i have noticed some strange behaviour in the ?jitter? function in R. On the help page for jitter it is stated that "The result, say r, is r <- x + runif(n, -a, a) where n <- length(x) and a is the amount argument (if specified).? and "If amount is NULL (default), we set a <- factor * d/5 where d is the smallest difference between adjacent unique (apart from fuzz) x

Ctrl-C in ESS
Dear list, usually, I can break a running R process with Ctrl-C. This does not seem to work if R was started from within ESS. Is there anything analogous? Catching R's (D)COM output in perl
Hi, i'm using Perl to control R under Windows via the Win32::OLE module and R's (D)COM server. This works fine, if i send commands and/or simple data structures to R. I am also able to get matrix-shaped return values into my Perl program, like this # snip ---------------------------------------------------- my $R = Win32::OLE->new('StatConnectorSrv.StatConnector');

R 1.0.0 for Windows
As Brian Ripley said this morning on 'r-help', a binary distribution of R 1.0.0 to run on Windows 95, 98, NT4.0 and 2000 on Intel/clone chips is available at CRAN (at least in Wien). The URL is http://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/windows-NT/base/ See 'README.rw1000' for installation instructions and 'CHANGES' for a list of Windows specific news. As always,

[R] jitter-bug? problematic behaviour of the jitter function
Hello, R 4.0.2 on Ubuntu 20.04, sessionInfo at end. This came up in r-help, I'm answering to the OP and also posting to r-devel since I believe it is more appropriate there. I can confirm this. The original instructions are the first and the last, but even with smaller numbers the error shows up. set.seed(2020) jitter(c(1,2,10^4)) # desired behaviour #[1] 1.058761 1.957690

Goodness-of-fit on Burr distributed data
I simulate a uniform data and then transformed into Burr(1,3,1) data, which is of pdf: f(x)=[3*(x^2)] / [(1+x^3)^2], x>0 How can I perform a goodness-of-fit test (k-s, anderson-darling,chisq,cramer-von mises,...) on it (should highly accept) to get test-statistics & p-values? Thanks! Sincerely, Shelton Jin -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

lme: Specifying a formula
Dear list, I am faced with the following model: y=E+P+M+H+PxE+Error y is a response, E and P are factors with fixed effects. M is a random effect nested in P and H is a random effect nested in M. PxE is interaction of P and E. It seems that I should fit such a model with the lme function of library nlme, but I was not able to figure out from the help page how to specify the formula. In the

Help with Clustering Techniques in R
Greetings RListers, I have a data set containing two types of outcomes; success and failure. Associated with each outcome are 12 different measurements. I'm trying to find out, for example, if some of the 12 measures are associated more with success or failure or, if there's any relationship at all between the measures and the outcomes (success or failure). I don't have (as yet)

uninitialised value in R (PR#13476)
Hi, I get an "Conditional jump or move depends on uninitialised value(s)" from valgrind when using 'solve' in combination with some simple C-code. (I did not use other functions of R besides 'solve'.) In detail: running R --vanilla -d "valgrind --tool=memcheck --memcheck:leak-check=yes --num-callers=20 " and calling .Call("XXX") nd <- 3

size limit in R?
Hi, Please see the email exchanges below. I am having trouble generating output that is large enough for our needs, specifically when using the GaussRF function. However, when I wrote Dr. Schlather (the author of the GaussRF function), he indicated that there is also a limit imposed by R itself. Is this something that we can overcome? Thank you very much for any assistance you may provde.

Installing RSPython with R 1.3.0
To get RSPython installed on my debian test box, I had to make a couple of changes not listed in ftp://www.omegahat.org/pub/Omega/RSPython/FAQ.html 1) I had to change $R_HOME/src/modules/X11 : $(R_X11_la): $(R_X11_la_OBJECTS) $(R_X11_la_DEPENDENCIES) $(SHLIB_LINK) -o $@ $(R_X11_la_LDFLAGS) $(R_X11_la_OBJECTS) $(R_X11_la_LIBADD) $(LIBS) to $(R_X11_la): $(R_X11_la_OBJECTS)
