Samba 3.0.11 on Red Hat RHAS3
...ora of errors):
The Red Hat 3.0.11 SRPM from the Samba site compiled cleanly and runs fine
(daemons and utilities) on my RHAS3 test rig, and on a RHAS3 update 4
production NAS server doubling as a Samba 3 server with 1150+ users of
Unix/Linux and soon PDC Windows services.
Jerry Carter has done a magnificent job with the SRPM, thanks a million,
Jerry :) I have no idea why the source code compile should have gone so
haywire, yet the SRPM should perform, they both use the same libraries.
All the users are in an Openldap DB on another server. Having read the

...s to 500 or more, as the Apache processes all enter a state of uninterruptible sleep. This triggers alerts, pages, and on occasion, application specific triggers (web app) that show a "Too Busy" page when the load average is too high (for instance, that which vBulletin does).
It would be magnificent to be able to instruct the remaining nodes that the node in question was taken down purposefully, and to go on about their lives immediately (beginning of course with the journal replay, etc).
It's very simple in concept, and probably also execution. Could something like this be added? It woul...

Converting F-value from ANOVA to cohen's d in meta-analysis (metafor-package)
Dear R-experts!
Running a meta-analysis (using the magnificent metafor-package), I use
cohen's d as a main outcome measure in a random-effects model.
For most of the samples cohen's d is derived form a comparison of two groups
(A & B). However some studies report results from an ANOVA (one-factor with
three levels: C,D,E) whereas two groups (C,D) c...

default par
Hello dear R-developers,
two questions on an otherwise magnificent program:
1)
Is there a way to set defaults for par differently than R offers normally?
I for example would like to have las default to 1. (or in the same style, sometimes type in plot() could be "l" per default).

simple script idea
...just done an rpm update install yet there were
some changes in ClamAV lately and I didn't know how well that would go.
up till now I spec'd and rolled my own Clamav RPMs without milter
somewhat recently ClamAV changed from having a clamav-server RPM file to not
having it so I went to the magnificent Dag repo and snagged what I needed
I did a yum remove and then a yum localinstall
What I didn't think about was that the clamav user and group would be
deleted and then re-created... which I think poor package management design,
yet what do I know.
Anyways, would some kind soul point me in t...

CDE can actually be installed on Centos 7 through yum:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/dcantrel/cde/
Just install the repo file and "yum install cde"
That gives you CDE version 2.3.
I installed it on an VirtualBox image that I use for testing s...

Re: Asterisk-Users Digest, Vol 19, Issue 34
The folks at Sangoma- they know more about echo than most of us will ever forget- you want to speak with David M. I recently upgraded 6 Sangoma 104's to 104d's to resolves intermittent echo issues.
The 104d is a magnificent marvel by folks who understand hardware. Hold the 104d beside a TE411P and you will know what I am talking about. As Doug at Sangoma says, "Sangoma's role is to raise the bar"....the guy is too humble.

Unable to deactivate forgery protection
Hi,
I just created a new Rails app that will be receiving some POSTed data
from the outside so it must skip the verify_authenticity_token for some
create actions. Although I have added:
skip_before_filter :verifiy_authenticity_token
I still get InvalidAuthenticityToken. In one of my other Rails app
(created back in Rails 1.2.6 and updated to 2.3.2 over time) this
skipping works perfectly though,

Authorship and Attribution
A question on authorship and attribution policy for the Wiki. I
originally credited Alan Bartlett for the page content on
HowTos/ConfigureNewVideoCard, but he was not comfortable with that and
the reference got removed in the edit process. I generally do not
include my name on Wiki pages I create, but it is fairly common
practice. Should there be a statement in the Guidelines covering this

I was unable to get a proper count or even estimate of the number of MWLH
at EuroLLVM, but I have to say just the informal observation of so many
others of my own kind was enough to warm my heart. I was especially
thrilled by David Chisnall's magnificent mane, and I am very happy that
we have representation on the LLVM Foundation Board in the person of
Anton Korobeynikov.
I appreciate that our acceptance within the community has been extremely
positive, with particular kudos to the Dev Meeting program committees who

Adding local group -> Access denied

Hi there,
short question: I try to add a local group via the NT-Usermanager
("usrmgr.exe"), but everytime I get a "Access denied". Adding a global
group works. I'm logged on as "Administrator". I'm running Samba 3.0.14a
on Debian Sarge (testing) with the smbldap-tools (v0.8.8).
What could I have done wrong?

Announcing SoapBX.com a new Rails App for making presentations
I got an idea less than two weeks ago and now as a testament to the
power of Rails I have released the first initial beta version of
SoapBx, with less than 20 hours of programming involved so far.
SoapBX is an application to create css based presentations and uses
Erik Meyer''s cool S5 css and js code:

With SoapBX you can use basic Textile and a
