.pkg won't fully install on my MacBook
I'm having problems downloading any .pkg file on my MacBook. All the
.dmg files up to 2.10.1 will download and install fine but nothing newer
than that. I'm attaching the the log file from my installer as and here
are some other things about my system. At the end of the log the
installer continues to run not doing anything and comes up with progress
messages. I've let it run

First and foremost sorry for off topic message, but I thought maybe
you smart guys can help me to decide about purchasing a MacBook or

OT: iBook or MacBook Pro?
Well, the worm has turned and I think I may actually get an Apple ;P.
But I can''t decide which one. Pros and cons:
14" iBook:
+ modem (for when broadband kicks out, or on the road and there''s no
WIFI)
+ screen is probably big enough (though I currently have a 15" Dell)
+ doesn''t get as hot as the MacBook
+ almost half the cost
+ less likely to get stolen

I simply want to sync my "iTunes Music" folder from my MacBook over to my NAS.
The scenario is like this:

How to set up R for Macbook Pro Intel Core Duo
I just recently purchased a Macbook Pro, Intel Core Duo 2GHz, 512 MB RAM.
After looking through several articles in this forum I found the link to the
R Mac Wiki. I am not that tech-savy but it appeared to me that this link,
http://wiki.urbanek.info/index.cgi?IntelMacR
describes how to install R on a Intel Mac Core Duo to utilise the two cores.
I have also downloaded and installed the

Experiences with CentOS & MacBook Pro?
Ok,
I'm finally of a mindset to replace my now tired, aging Dell Inspiron 600m.
I'm currently running Fedora Core on it, and am fairly happy with the
software.
Has anybody used CentOS on a Macbook Pro? What gotchas are there? (The first
that comes to mind is the lack of a right mousebutton) Scouting on the
Internet, I've seen that some people have trouble getting sound to work.

For MacBook, best way to do R?
I'm getting a MacBook and I'd like to stick with OS X rather than
convert it to Linux just yet.
However, my main concern is having decent performance.
What's my best option:
*use the existing binary for R?
*compile R fresh under OS X?
* install Linux and run R under that?
Does anyone have any recent experience they can share? Thanks!

Syslinux on MacBook Pro?
Hi,
Did anybody have success with running Syslinux on a MacBook Pro? I
didn't manage, but I admittedly have no idea about UEFI. I've also
heard that these machines deviate from the UEFI spec in some way...

Centos 8 on Macbook
Folks
I am trying to install Centos 8.1 on a MacBook Pro. I have a
bootable USB stick with centos-8.1-boot (which I think is the
equivalent of a netinstall), and it boots. However, when I select
the storage option, and choose to make more space on the SSD, go
through the confirming dialogs, the installer complains that it was
unable to save the information to the disk. A similar attempt

Installation on a Macbook Pro with nVidia MCP89 SATA controller
Did anybody succeed in installing CentOS on a MacBook Pro with nVidia
chipset (2010 edition,
http://www.heise.de/mac-and-i/produkte/macbook-13-2-4-ghz-mitte-2010-86/#produkt_detail)?
When I boot with the current minimal install disk, Linux does simply see
non disks.

CentOS 5 Beta on a MacBook Pro
FYI, I just installed CentOS 5 beta with the SMP kernel in a VMWare
fusion virtual machine on my 2.33 GHz 15 inch MacBook Pro.
The installation was flawless. I installed from an NFS share on my
network with the ISO images. The vm booted disc one and recognized
my 802.11n wireless connection as eth0. The install took about 30
minutes.
Everything worked fine...

Centos Macbook Installations
Hi
I would like to contribute to the CentOS wiki.
I've created the user RobertoNebot for accessing the centos wiki.
I would like to contribute with CentOS installation instructions for
Macbooks.
I think that the right place for this contribution would be
https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops
Cheers,
Roberto Nebot.
