creation of an external node source
Hello, it seems I''ve hit https://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/ticket/831 with puppet stable 0.23.2 . I''ve just created the simplest setup to get puppet running. puppetmasterd runs in the foreground. (-verbose) As the client connect to the server, the following err-msg is logged: puppetd --server myserver --waitforcert 60 --test --verbose err: Could not retrieve

NetWare 6 sp4 server to windows 2000 server using cwrsync 1.2.1 when the cwrsync service writes the files to the server it uses it's own username and permissions. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get this to write the files so common users and delete and change stuff? would the perverse permissions work with windows? [LLVMdev] [PATCH] Select correct embedded libclang_rt on Darwin
...onFull as a starting-point). The thing is, the main advantage of Triples is that they're largely GCC-compatible. Without that perspective, it's a mess: ELF/COFF/MachO, AAPCS/APCS, RTABI/GNUABI, Little/big-endian, even 32/64-bit on targets with both are all largely orthogonal, but we're lumbered with picking 3-4 names and running with it. There's an argument for moving to an extensible attribute-based system instead, but it'd be a lot of work even if everyone agreed it was a good idea. Tim.

Re-encoding digital broadcast to Ogg?
...a, best I could do is pick up the PCM to the DAC at which point it is too late. I guess for un-encrypted channels you could also pick up the transport stream from the tuner, but that's getting far too involved. As the world progresses into digital broadcast, does this mean that we'll be lumbered with whatever the original compression method is? Does this mean that some form of rudimentary copy protection can be implemented by encoding in a peculiar way so that if the audio is re-encoded it will result in a bad quality recording? RFC: Moving mailing lists soon
I''m about to leave town for three weeks and my home server keeps rebooting. It''s my mail server, unfortunately, so there''s a good chance you won''t get this. :/ Anyway, I''ve been meaning to do this for ages and ages, and it''s time to finally do so. I need to move all of the Puppet lists to a public, non-me provider, someone who has

random typing over text
Dear R, When I'm writing script I probably hit accidently some hot key and then the text in script is being overwritten by subsequent typing. Please what is the hot key or how can I disable it? -- View this message in context: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/random-typing-over-text-tp3470428p3470428.html Sent from the R help mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

multiple ldap classes?
I''d like to keep some pretty granular class definitions in ldap; but I''m not sure what is the best way to turn that into a puppet manifest. Is anybody else doing something like this? For instance, a samba server might have the following classes defined (in ldap): samba, samba-bdc, samba-file-shares, samba-build-shares, etc... And I would like to do something like this: -- class

Definition specialization
There was a discussion a while ago about adding inheritance to definitions. There is a need for a way to specialize parameters while allowing passing other options. This comes up with remotefile where it would be nice to have a default server location but not specify all the parameters (and their defaults) in the definition. Was there a change to the syntax? Is there a way to accomplish this?

delete stuff w/ no --delete
I'm having some issues syncing my win2k server using cwrsync, to my nw6 server using rsync 2.6.0. The issue I'm having is when I sync back to nw it deletes recently created files and I'm not using a --delete. I can still salvage them and it shows supervisor has deleted them. What I have noticed so far is that I think it has something to do with looking at date created vs looking at

"not authorized" when testing mongrel support
Hi, We''re trying to follow the instructions at http://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/UsingMongrel (Just using a single puppetmaster/mongrel instance and plain mod_proxy for now, instead of balancer one) We got past the "Server is not a class" error by modifying mongrel.rb We also kind-of got past the: /opt/bin/puppetmasterd:293: undefined method `daemonize'' for

R or Splus?
It's been suggested I use R, I suppose because my employer is too skint to pay for a copy of Splus. But.... it doesn't seem to be stable. I was trying to do some ordinary regression and stepping through a model. I was trying to set up a model ('kitchen_sink') in which to put all my model parameters. Then I wanted to use step() to see what it would reduce the model to. I

Migrate DC from Small Business Server 2011 to Samba 4
Hi, I want to migrate a Windows Small Business Server 2011 domain controller to Samba 4. The SBS2011 has about 40 users and 100 client computers. Also about 50 GPOs are in use. Furthermore there is Exchange running on the SBS and it has to stay there for the next couple of month (it will be replaced by a new mail system later). So far I think I can either try to migrate or start from

OT: PRI costs in US
Hello! Several of my customers would like to add a backup to their Internet connection. ISDN is a good solution: decently fast for a dial-up-type connection, yet still faily affordable. While I was at it, I decided to look at a couple of more creative telephone service options to possibly improve their service or lower costs at the same time. These customers range from having just a

Puppet Best Practice
Hello everyone, A long time ago, I posted the Stanford Best Practices and I''ve gone through and updated it today. I''d like to have people go through it and see if we can strip out some Stanford specific stuff and tag this as an official best practice. I think an official best practice will be important as more and more people consider making shareable modules, etc (mostly
