Anybody successfully using the Stallion EC8/32-AT on -stable? I just tried using the one I got on ebay and found that it hands on port close and passes no characters at all. Do any of the stallion cards work? Warner

BETA3 report
I just tried to boot the BETA3 disc1 iso on my Toshiba Satellite A64-S1762. I got a cryptic message: Too many holes in the physical address space, giving up <rest of copyright message here> PANIC (if I've gone into the BIOS at all), followed by a panic. Or I get a panic when probing the ohci device (either with or without a USB keyboard attached, the built-in keyboard is fried). Has

New FreeBSD Security Officer
...Fumerola, Daniel Harris, Trevor Johnson, Remko Lodder, Simon Nielsen, Christian Peron, Wes Peters, Josef El-Rayes, Tom Rhodes, Gregory Shapiro, Bruce Simpson, Dag- Erling Sm?rgrav, and Robert Watson. Several of our previous security officers have also given much help: Kris Kennaway, Warner Losh, and Guido van Rooij. I asked the FreeBSD Core Team to offer the security officer role to Colin Percival, and I am happy to say that they agreed and that Colin accepted. Colin has been a FreeBSD committer since January 2004, and has been an energetic member of the FreeBSD Security Team fo...

Is it feasible to cross-build compat5x binary?
Hi folks, I think we need to update compat5x binary to fix FreeBSD-SA-05:21.openssl, but will the binaries built by ``make universe'' be identical with actual build on Alpha, Sparc64, etc? (Yes, I'm volunteering to do the work iff they are identical ;-) Cheers, -- Xin LI <delphij frontfree net> http://www.delphij.net/ See complete headers for GPG key and other information.

Problem with 16-in-1 card reader
My new PC has an internal 16-in-1 card reader connected via USB 2.0. The device is the Techsolo TCR-1640 (http://www.techsolo.de/product/cardreader/tcr_1640/index.php). I boot from a compact flash inserted in it and I can mount and unmount the same CF once the system has booted and has mounted the root partition from my graid3 array. The problem arise when I replace the inserted CF with another

Most of the races have been identified in making device_t have to do with how drivers are written. Efforts are underway to identify all the races, and to contact the authors of subsystems that can help...

serious networking (em) performance (ggate and NFS) problem
Dear best guys, I really love 5.3 in many ways but here're some unbelievable transfer rates, after I went out and bought a pair of Intel GigaBit Ethernet Cards to solve my performance problem (*laugh*): (In short, see *** below) Tests were done with two Intel GigaBit Ethernet cards (82547EI, 32bit PCI Desktop adapter MT) connected directly without a switch/hub and "device
