different loginscripts
Hi,
at the moment I use "logon script = scripts\%G.bat", and have two
scripts for my two main user groups.
Now there are some special users which should have different scripts, so
I thought, if there is a way of adding an option to use two login
scripts; e.g. if there is an user script, use it, if not than use the
group script.
Or do I have to maintain that "problem" by

[META] suggestions for managing users desktops
Hi,
Sorry if this is slightly OT. I have just moved from a WindowNT domain
to a Samba3x PDC. What I'd really like now is some tools to help me
manage users. Some of the things on my wish list are to be able to
edit a remote registry (the user's profiles are local) and Remote
desktop access so I do not have to run over their desks every time
there is a message they don't understand.

dovecot.index mtime
Is there anyway I can get Dovecot to update mtime on dovecot.index
everytime a user successfully checks there email? Or perhaps there is
a better way to do what I want here.
I am working on a script that I want to check when the last time a
user checked there email account. If a user has not checked it in say
6 months I want to automatically suspend the account through the MTA.

Samba (Linux) Server and Mac OS X Clients
...nd for information using a samba server as
authentification and fileserver for mac os x clients.
At the moment I have all useraccounts and (home-)shares configured on
the samba server and I can manually connect to the server from the os x
clients.
My Questions: Has someone a how to configure a loginscript for mounting
the samba shares?
Or has someone a how to configure the systems that the mac client uses
the server-authentification and maps the shares automatically?
(Like for Windows)
Any ideas are welcome!

Adding machines and machine based logins
...imary group that is the same as
the machine name and I don't want to change them in case it has an adverse
effect.
So, the question here is that if i change the primary group of the machines
from say machine1$ to machines will that affect anything when I change the
login scripts e.g. from loginscript.bat to login.%m and will deleting the
existing primary group of a machine affect the info stored in tdbsam.
Also, any ideas why
add machine script = /usr/sbin/useradd -s /bin/false -d /dev/null -g \
machines %u
is not setting the machines group to machines?
Thanks

Password trouble with LDAP (eDirectory)
Hi All,
I have a strange problem with passwords, stored in LDAP.
When i try to logon as a user with the correct password, access is
denied and the log says
check_ntlm_password: Authentication for user [administrator] ->
[administrator] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER
When i try to logon a user with incorrect password, access is (of
course) denied, but the log now says

(Trying) to understand Print properties saving
Hi,
some weeks ago I wrote to this list about a problem I have saving print
properties (samba 3.4.7 - ubuntu-lucid + XP-pro)
I never managed to solve it, I also tried with samba 3.6+ (Ubuntu precise)
but had aother problems I wrote about in this list ending opening a bug

Now I had to go back to my 3.4.7 installation. I'd like at least to bettere

Samba PDC + LDAP: adding user to local admin group
Hi all,
I'm evaluating Zimbra [1] as the groupware server for my small company. It
uses OpenLDAP for authentication services and I'm configuring a Samba server
as a PDC for my company, using the same ldap backend.
So far, so good, everything is working beautifully well, I can add computers
to the domain, login from any workstation, access shares with the
appropriate rights and so on.

Windows 10 clients slow remapping drives and somewhat inconsistent in reconnecting to the saved map drives
Hello,
I'm a long term samba user through many different flavors from FreeBSD to Linux. My latest is using Ubuntu 16.04 with its older version of the 4.2 series of samba as an AD DC and separate 4.2 series file server. In my small test environment the Samba 4.2 AD DC and the Samba 4.2 file server are different LXC containers on the same host.
I've worked through many of the

...probably isn't a samba issue, but is there a way to tell win2k that a
printer is to be available to everybody using the box after the
administrator has installed the driver ?
Or do I really have to use the commandline win2k-tool (I dant remember the
name of it, but I know it is in there...) in loginscripts for every user
to ensure that they have the correct printers installed ?
