trying to get better ogg quality for this clip
...wma and mp3pro sound much better than ogg at 64k. can anyone suggest a setting that i haven't tried yet that can rival the wma and mp3pro samples at 64k? it's the "gravel effect" that is troublesome. the part in question is the first 15 seconds of this wave file: http://qa01.live365.com/jlg/VH_simple.wav this piece starts with a stereo guitar that is rich in harmonic content (like chimes) with some flanging/chorus/delay type effects. way in the background, there is some high frequency delay/reverb that goes easily unnoticed unless using head phones. it sounds like the gui...

relaying through live365.com
Has anyone been succesful using live365 as a relay for icecast and getting listed in the various directories? What would be neat is having a listing in the directories that would either send the listeners straight to live365 or to a page on my web server that would redirect them to live365. Being able to support 365 listeners is a lot...

off: live365 relay
Answer to your question: Live365 is strictly mp3 Much more than you wanted to know: I started using Live365 about a zillion years ago and of course it was wonderful "back in the good ole daze". After you signed up with them, you could park 365 meg of mp3s (up to 56k) and/or set up a relay (using either icecast or sh...

Icecast 2 for Live365 MP3 Relaying
Hi All, I attempted to switch my MP3 server from Icecast 1 to Icecast 2 today. I run a Live365 station, Big Planet Radio, which simply relays my local Icecast server. My Icecast 2 error.log file shows a lot of the following messages when the Live365 server, Nanocaster 2.5.6, is connected to it: [2003-05-14 22:09:15] DBUG format-mp3/format_mp3_write_buf_to_client Client had recoverable err...

live365
Another, but more recent problem, I am having is Live365. I haven't done much work with it, but can you relay to Live365 properly? They give me an ip and it works, but I don't show up in their listings, and the song title doesn't show up in the client's mp3player. (whereas if someone listens to the local broadcast they do get the song...

List of "digipeaters" (like live365) needed (aka BW providers).
I need a "complete" list of "reliable" services for repeating the signal of a station to the listeners (live radio). The situation is that a station will be doing live radio and has a little DSL connection and external bandwith will be required. I don't mind if it costs much or it is cheap, I now just want to join information to say my customer: You have all this coices,

Error Syncing to MPEG
I am trying to relay a streamtuner Live365 stream across a ssh tunnel to a remote XP pc, where I would pick it up using winamp. I have a similar setup with a non-live365 stream routed using streamripper to port 9001 and this plays correctly in winamp For my Live365 stream, I have a RealVNC root session that is streaming the Live365 broadc...

[Newbie Q] Relay to an Icecast server apparently not relaying?
The main stream is going to a Shoutcast server via Winamp. Works fine. A Relay stream goes to Live365. Works fine. I set up a Relay under SAM to point to the Icecast server running on another box on the network. In SAMs Realy section it tells me that it's connected - and Icecast seems to be telling me the same thing. Obviously I'm missing something in the setup of IceCast - I think? becaus...

...d title, album, and song duration parameters? This could be very useful for a stream hosting company. The Artist & Album data could be used to provide links to purchase the CD, and the duration would be useful for refreshing the title information window for in-line website based players. Live365 supports these parameters for their cgi interface. It may be worth considering. [Newbie Q] Relay to an Icecast server apparently not relaying?
Hi: Let me see if I understand what you're doing. You're using winamp (or whatever) to stream to a shoutcast server which pushes a relay on to live365 (or live365 pulls from shoutcast, same deal really). Now you've got a second winamp with samcast trying to pull shoutcast or live365 and pass it to icecast. Is that right? OK. Firstly, there is no source connecting to icecast. The login you are seeing is an admin login. Now, this plugin m...

Streaming Winamp to Icecast - can't seem to connect?
Hi, newbie here.... I have SAM+Winamp set up and streaming ok to Shoutcast and Live365, but have set up an icecast server on a FreeBSD box here - compiled ok and seems to run ok. Well, It shows its running in logs and so on. althought the compile didn't want to know about -pthreads - Anyway, connecting to the stream with http://ip:port with Winamp - nothing? I'm pretty sure...

Simple directory question
Folks, I've been running an icecast server for about a year, and never really had the chance to test it out on the other side of our Internet link. We've had a lot of people trying us out, but very short connect times in the whole. I finally got a cable modem at home, tried having a listen, and found the stream to be very stuttery. So, first things first, I went and grabbed the
