Simple Class A VPN Guide - Problems
...9;m having trouble setting up a simple VPN between two machines that are
unfirewalled, one is a physical machine and another is a local VM.
I can connect to them via their existing LAN IPs and ping them without
issue with < 1ms.
1) I have WinA (Windows host - existing LAN IP 192.168.137.1) and LinuxB
(Linux host - existing LAN IP 192.168.137.150)
2) I want them to exist in a Class A address of 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2
3) I have a netname of "vpn" chosen. I am using 1.0 on LinuxB and 1.1 on
WinA.
WinA has this /vpn/tinc.conf:

SWAT login agony
I've installed the latest/greatest from Samba (3.0.alpha...). I've been
following the directions from this site
(http://samba.linuxbe.org/en/samba/learn/swat.html) on how to set up
SWAT for configuring Samba. The problem I'm running into is logging
into SWAT. I've tried every user imaginable and still no luck. I've
enabled the SWAT service using xinetd, and it actually prompts me for a
user/pass, but the authentic...

Bootable CD Images
...ot a bootable image that is not a
floppy image.
For example, DemoLinux is a 650MB iso file and when burned to a cd it
boots. What I would like to do is be able to boot the iso image after
picking it from a menu.
Perhaps that isn't the best example, lets say you have two distros LinuxA
and LinuxB and they are both 200MB so they can both fit on one cd. You
can't expand the iso's because the common directories such as /etc would
collide and then only one of the distros would work. So you would like to
keep them nicely bundled in their manufactures iso file until you pick them
from...

I am running a samba pdc on host "debianpdc" for domain "linuxdom" and
have set "allow trusted domains = yes" in my [global] smb.conf file... now

Strange problem with Dial
I'm trying to add an emergency dial to my context. However, when I try to
dial it, I get caught in an endless loop.
For debugging, I have pared out nearly all the control flow and just have
ChanIsAvail() and Dial() called. Using two different extensions to call teh
same number, I get two different actions by *.
Here is the vvverbose output:

So SAMBA no longer supports print driver downloads
So SAMBA no longer supports print driver downloads. That is about the
only conclusion that I can come to at this point. I've not been able to get
Windows printer driver downloads to work right since Samba 2.2.2.
No one but printer admins displays the correct settings for printers,
everyone else gets the original printer defaults that they cannot change.
I've tried this with

FYI,
Configuration : Red Hat Linux Version 7.1
Samba version 2.2.1a RPM
In order to get SWAT to run in the Netscape I had to follow to manual at
http://samba.linuxbe.org/en/samba/learn/swat.html using Xinetd. Because we
have a separate proxy server, Netscape had to be told NOT to go through it.
In order to do that you need to make sure that Netscape:
"Edit/Preferences/Advanced/Proxies/Manual Proxy Config/view/No Proxy For:
localhost:901" is added....

SWAT
I was playing with this on my test machine, (redhat 5.2, samba 2.0.3)
worked great, and I was really impressed.
So I decided to install this on my office machine. (redhat 4.2, samba
2.0.3) and the only significant difference is that on the
office machine, I use encrypted passwords.
I cannot get swat to authenticate on the second machine. That is, no
matter what account, password combination

Programming Languages?
Greetings,
What programming languages besides shell scripting are used in shorewall?
What knowledge is needed to help in shorewall development? I figure iptables is a goood
bet but is there anything else as well?
Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Jason
