Licences
Hi,
I'm looking for a way to determine the licenses of packages we're using.
Is there a command (rpm, yum, up2date...) that will take the package
name as argument and return me the licence?
Or is everything included with Centos 4 GPL? That is the only licence
I found in the repositories... I remember that RH had the habit of
putting all the applicable licences on the distros' CD.
Thanks,

iLBC re-licence
Does anybody know if the updated licence on iLBC makes it safe to
include in Asterisk when used in a commercial environment again?
https://sites.google.com/site/webrtc/ilbc-freeware
It seems to require that the Google iLBC licence document is on the
box, but that otherwise it is free-to use by all in any way (BSD
licence style). I bel...

Package Licences
Are there any particular licences under which R packages must be released or is
it the discretion of the author? The same question if the package is to be
destined for CRAN?
Kind regards,

729 licence on scsi
I Purchased 4 licences for my SCSI only machine. I do have a CDROM -
with a mounted CD. The Registration binary gives me a 'Segmentation
Fault'. Is this like telling me I can't register the licence?
Unfortunately - I only seriously scanned the mailing list after buying
the keys....
Seems like the licence i...

I just sent my third email (transcript below) informing them that I will
assume a further lack of response as permission from them to play whatever.
Reassuringly I found this on their website under the heading of "What
happens if I do not take out a licence?"
If a person is using copyright music and does not apply for a the relevant
MCPS or PRS licence, the Society in most cases will take all reasonable
steps to ensure that the user is fully aware of their legal obligations and
allow them time to obtain a licence before considering legal action,...

New dcom95 mirror
Hello,
as Jeremy Newman wanted mirrors for dcom95, here's a new link
http://www003.portalis.it/115/download/dcom95.zip
Note that because of the Microsoft licencing conditions, you are
licenced to download
this file only if you are going to use it with wine.

Do I need a CH1 licence for Cisco Phones ?
I've got a question regarding Cisco IP Phones and licencing.
When using a third party PBX like asterisk is a licence required for the
Cisco phones ? Has anyone got anything in writing from Cisco to clarify this
?
Eg can I just use CP-7961G or do I need CP-7961G-CH1 even though I'm not
using Cisco Callmanager ?

Digium G729 licence unattended install
...eatures of Asterisk is that we can install it on many
hardware platforms.
We've done our best to script this installation process, so that, in case of
hardware failure, we can re-install Asterisk on another platform.
The question I have is how can we adapt our process so that Digium's G729
licences (or other licenced software) could be installed without asking too
long interactive sessions.
Before digging deeper into this topic, I guessed the installation process
could be :
A- install operating system on new provisioned bare-metal machine,
B- install interactively Digium's G729 program...

G729 - what happens if licences used up?
I haven't been able to find the answer online, and am not currently
able to conduct an experiment to find the answer...
I understand that in a SIP call where G729 has been negotiated as the
preferred codec, a G.729 licence is not consumed until there is a need
to perform transcoding, e.g. play a non-g729 sound, or do voicemail,
or enter a Meetme, etc.
What happens when a SIP call in progress needs a G.729 licence and
they are all in use already? Does the call fail, or go silent, or do a
re-INVITE to negotiate anothe...

Making a new package: licence
HI All,
I have written and succesfully uploaded a new package. The licence it is under is 'GPL' --no version. My assumption is, since all the code is written in R the licence R used for R would affect the code (hence my "GPL" stands for "whatever version of the GPL R is under")
I am happy with the licencing I used, but I'd like to ask if t...

Licence for datasets in a R-package
...s for which no "official" licenses are provided; I was told by the
creators of these databases that users can use such data provided that the
correct bibliographic reference is always used (the package is already
reminding the users about the correct citation(s) to use). I thought a
CC-by licence would suit this need, thus I am posting here to ask if:
1) It is possible to distribute these datasets as rda files within my
package (which will be released as GPL=>2, thus two different licences will
be needed for the package)
2) If a CC-by licence for these datasets could be includ...

If you create a distribution package, it'd be cool (but not required) if

Can someone clarify how Nicecast can sell a licence key and yet have xiph

a fine line here? Does "Non-profit distribution of The Software is
acceptable" mean that if you have access to licence key then you can share
the software _and_ the key?
