RIDE-ME
I know these forums are typically for questions and such, but I thought some of you may be interested in this... For the past couple months I''ve been working on a Windows based IDE for Rails development in my spare time. It closely resembles Visual Studio in many respects, so if you''re a former ASP .NET developer like me, you''ll feel right at home. RIDE-ME is still

Hyphens
Hi there, I''m working with some legacy data where customer phone numbers are stored with hyphens between the area code, exchange, and number (e.g. 555-555-5555). Is this the best way to store a phone number? Perhaps not, but it''s the way they were being stored, so I have to work with this format. Right, so when I save a record the log tells me acts_as_ferret indexed the

wine and build difference between R.2.4.0 and R 2.4.1 windows binaries?
Does anybody (most probably the core team) know if there is any difference in how the official 2.4.0 and 2.4.1 binaries are built? Problem is, 2.4.0 loads with the wine (I tried a few recent versions, and also used 2.3.x under wine from time to time), but 2.4.1 won't. Thanks. Hin-Tak Leung

[PATCH] Makefile: add support for git svn clones
...sn't, that's fine too. Felipe --- It would appear that you are unaware that you are walking a minefield of entrenched positions and personality conflicts. For those like myself who are mystified by the positions taken in this thread, a partial back story may be helpful. In 2012, Han-Tak Leung reported a problem compiling the development version of R that he had checked out using git's svn compability feature: https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2012-October/065133.html In 2013, Brian Ripley applied a patch with the comment "trap HK Leung misuse" explicitly to prevent u...

more of a statistics/display question
this is not really an R question but I imagine I would use R to do it. I have a loop that has thousands of iterations and after each iteration the results are a box leung pvalue a regression t-stat and a profit number so, i have 1000's of these sets of the 3 numbers above. obviously, the p-value varies from zero to 1. the t-statistic goes from about -3 to 3 and the profit numbers goes from around -30 to +30. i would like to see how the profit number varies...

Microsoft help files
I wonder if the software here: http://morte.jedrea.com/~jedwin/projects/chmlib/ or at any of the links on that page might allow elimination of the need for separately downloading the Microsoft Help compiler -- which is just one more task that one must perform to get up and running to build your own R packages on Windows.

Cannot make disable_plaintext_auth = no works in configuration
Hi, No matter how I try, I cannot make the config disable_plaintext_auth = no to work. I have set it up in 10-auth.conf but when I check with doveconf -a it is still disable_plaintext_auth = yes. Here is my config: # 2.2.33.2 (d6601f4ec): /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # Pigeonhole version 0.4.21 (92477967) # OS: Linux 4.15.0-36-generic x86_64 Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS auth_mechanisms = plain login

the case of building R snapshot without svn nor network connection.
...i.e. an in-house fork - some of which are never going upstream, such as a local revert of r62183 (or a local revert of any other upstream commits) is one reason why some have distributed repositories. Lastly, a minor grip. The current head of the HK government is probably sometimes called "HK Leung", just as some might call a certain old lady "UK Windsor" and a certain black person "US Obama".

Sweave, cairo_pdf, CJK, ghostscript
I have had some fun in the last few days trying to put together an annotated map of China with R and some public GIS data: http://sourceforge.net/projects/outmodedbonsai/files/snpMatrix%20next/1.17.7.11/China_Choropleth_Maps.pdf/download It is done, and rather nice... there are a few issues: - the default pdf() device cannot do CJK with embedded fonts - and cairo_pdf() is not hooked up to
