Proper way of updating winetools?
After updating from, say winetools-2.10-jo to 2.11-jo (by rpm), I can't use the wt startup scripts like ie6, wmplayer etc. any longer, and I get an error message similar to "winetools hasn't been configured for this user. Run the base setup ..." But doing so would erase my ~/.wine directory and thus destroy my old setup including all my program installations, which of course

On the way towards scanning - further hints?
I have an USB scanner which is working well and has been long supported in Linux now (Agfa Snapscan 1212U). But I can't get scanning to work in Wine, where I have installed three applications which should be able to scan (and which are running fine otherwise): ABBYY FineReader 7.0 (OCR) Irfanview 4.10 (image viewer) Photoshop CS (of course, Photoshop). No MIDI devices in wine
I'd want to run the windows editor for my guitar preamp (VOX Tonelab SE) which is connected to the MIDI in and out sockets of my soundcard. The program installs and starts without any problems under wine but it can't find any MIDI ports. MIDI works fine otherwise in Linux - I can read from and write to the sockets with arecordmidi and aplaymidi, but there are no MIDI devices visible
