Run liveice as a background process...
Tried running it as non root user but something about the user not having access to the /dev/dsp audio device. I've got to give the user the ability to use that device? Thanks for the help. Problem streaming to shoutcast w/ liveice
Maybe this is the wrong place to post, but... When trying to start up liveice to a shoutcast server I'm getting the following error, and then it dies and screws up the terminal emulation for my session. Anyone seen this before? LiveIce Streaming Mpeg Audio Generator Input Mode: Direct

Ok, is this possible: I want to have a 128k and a 24k stream of a particualr audio program, plugged into the line in of my Ensoniq AudioPCI 128 (es1370 chipset) Is there any way to do this with just one soundcard, or do I need two? Problem streaming to shoutcast w/ liveice
...o one port higher than the Shoutcast server base port. Shoutcast uses the base port for metadata & port+1 for the stream data. If you exit liveice with ctrl-c (rather than the command it specifies) it usually won't screw up your session settings. The perl MP3-Info module will give you anything you want from the id3 tag, including artist, title, etc. If you're not a perl programmer, you might want to look for a script called 'mpi' that makes a nice command-line frontend to the module. ...directory called .liveice_temp_files that's created the first time liveice is run. If it's run by root the first time, other users won't have write priveleges to it. hi, this is way off topic, but maybe someone can help... i'm looking for a script or prog that gives me info on a mp3-file, like what mpg123 shows when starting up plus some tech details like size, time, frequency etc. i've tried perl-MP3-Info, but it doesn't know about album, title, artist etc. i want to use it for fetching as much info as possible from a file into a database. any
