(BUG in svn/trunk?) - superclass mismatch for any subclass of ApplicationController
I track svn/trunk of Rails using svn:externals
Some change to Rails committed in the last 1-2 days broke my subclass
of ApplicationController
The example, below, works with Rails 1.0, but in today''s svn, it dies
with the following error:
"superclass mismatch for class FooController"
class ApplicationController < ActionController::Base
end

Is there a way to pass LLVM_ENABLE_DUMP into cmake from outside
without changing any of the configuration files? With Chapel's use of
LLVM, we try to avoid modifying any of the source files that come from
the LLVM

Respect and Disappointment
I''ve finally started a blog. I really didn''t want to go public with it
until I was sure I keep it up, but DHH posted a entry to his blog that I
feel compelled to comment on.
You can read about it on my blog:

Does Rails perform better-or-worse on different O.S.? Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Solaris in particular
We''re at a point where we could choose any O.S. for a soon-to-be
launched Rails app server, and are feeling pretty neutral about it.
The choices are Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and Solaris.
Since Rails will be running everything, I''m wondering if anyone has
seen significantly better (or worse) performance in any of these O.S.
in Rails in particular?

[LLVMdev] JOB: Clang/LLVM developer
The Secure Coding group at CERT has current job openings for knowledgeable Clang and/or LLVM developers. We have two (and soon to be three) ongoing research projects involving LLVM and Clang, with a need for significant development work. An ideal candidate would be someone who has multiple patches submitted and accepted across fairly diverse portions of the code base. The job postings are

[LLVMdev] C as used/implemented in practice: analysis of responses
We already perform optimizations only when the compiler can prove they won’t break the program.
The only difference between that and what you suggest is in the definition of “won’t break the program”. We define it as “won’t break the program with respect to the semantics implied by the C/C++ spec”.
You want to redefine it, by specifying a new abstract machine, which is more conservative than

would like to link to openssh.com
openssh.com (OpenSSH) is ranked #38 for the keyword "secure server". I have a perfect match for your site and I think we should link to each other. This will do two things:
1 - help our users find relevant content
2 - help both our sites rank better in Google (this is an added bonus)
Google doesn't just analyze the number of sites linked to you... they also look at how

got a Knowledge Base written in Rails, anyone?
Anyone written a Knowledge-Base app in Rails?
We need one inside the office, and could write from scratch, but just
thought I''d ask if anyone has an existing one they know of.

anyone using ENCODE and DECODE in SQL in ActiveRecord?
I keep some sensitive information encoded using MySQL''s ENCODE and
DECODE commands in the database table.
-- example SQL:
SELECT *, DECODE(ccnumblob, ''salthere'') AS ccnum FROM customers WHERE id=2;
UPDATE customers SET ccnumblob = ENCODE(''4321432143214321'',
''salthere'') WHERE id=2;
INSERT INTO customers (name, ccnumblob) VALUES
