Windows 2008 terminal services with a samba PDC
Dear, My windows 2008 terminal server doesn't find the terminal license server when I add the windows server to the samba domain. The license server is installed on the same 2008 server as where the terminal services are installed on. When the windows server was still in a workgroup, then he found the TS license server. I'm using samba 3.2.14-40 and on the windows server 2008, the

How to disable client NetBT via DHCP options?
...ps can go home and use resources on NetBT-enabled networks, without making the user adjust network settings every time. Here's as detailed info as I can find about it - but it pertains to a Windows DHCP server. What I want to know is the ISC DHCPD equivalent: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=313314 This could be an ISC DHCPD quesiton, but I'm just asking here first because many Samba users are probably also using a Unix-based DHCP server and might want to know the same. Thanks, Dave P.S.: If anyone knows how to get browsing or equivalent (I've heard of such a thing as AD...

Slow XP -> Samba 3 (but not FTP etc)
...irectly connecting XP machine to server - XP copy to Win2k (fast) But with no luck. The time (estimated) to copy a 2 GB file is > 200 minutes. Microsoft KB articles talk about changing TcpAckFrequency Values on the server, for slow comms from XP to a Win2K PDC (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=321169) but this is on the server, and the same article talks about changing RequireSecuritySignature & EnableSecuritySignature (on the client, I think), but these are already set to 0. The most odd thing about this is that the poor performance started happening during a copy operation: 10...

Can mount shares but not "net use" them
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Ok, I've made progress on my problems from earlier today, but have one final sticking point that's gumming up the works. On a WindowsXP box, I can access shares via \\server\sharename just fine. But if I do "net use L: \\server\sharename", I get "System error 67 has occurred. The network name cannot be found."

...d for such functionality in xine. It is however suboptimal since it mixes aims. A better way would be to invent a "caption" tag for CMML which would have some formatting functionality (colours, alignment etc. - the things that the EBU subtitling standard http://www.limeboy.com/support.php?kbID=12 is providing). Another option would be to disregard CMML completely and invent a new timed text logical bitstream for Ogg which would just have the subtitles. This could use any existing time text format and would just require a bitstream mapping for Ogg, which should not be hard to do at all....

Smb signing - how can I check?
Howdy, Does anyone know how to check the samba setting of "smb signing"? There is a data write error that can happen with the signing, and I'd like to check my samba servers. "Remember Password" from 2000/XP to Samba share?
I have searched for the actual answer to this repeatedly, but keep coming up with different answers. Most people say that it just "can't be done" but then, once in a while, someone seems to reply that they are doing it and it works fine. Which messes up that whole "it can't be done" argument. :) Basically, we have a network with a Windows 2000 Small Business server,

Getting eps into Word documents.
A student in one of my courses has asked me about getting R graphics output (under Linux) into a Word document. I.e. she wants to do her R thing under Linux, but then do her word processing using Word. Scanning around the r-help archives I encountered an inquiry about this topic --- eps into Word documents --- from Paul Johnson but found no replies to it. I tried contacting him but the email

Why you MUST use SCGI for Rails development
Hello happy Railers, I used to develop with a local out-of-the-box Apache and load times were pretty slow (like a few seconds each page). "Well, it''s the price to pay for no compile / cache / etc..." I thought. Nonsense. Yesterday I installed SCGI, and now I''ve got the best of both worlds: rails development env uses my very latest modifications, while SCGI ensures I

Samba Guru's: I need whatever help you all can provide. I'm at my wits end here with this problem, I've checked forums and the Samba docs and can't find anything. Sorry if this email is long and drawn out. We just put in a new Solaris 9 server running Samba 3.0.11 to replace a Solaris 8 server running Samba 2.0.7. All the client desktops are running Windows 2000 joined to a
