Yum/RPM Update Conflicts

reformat /var and /home. Since the install I've been fighting with
dependencies while trying to do a yum update and I suspect it is to do
with the rpm databases (being in /var). The dependency that I am
having real problems with at the moment is initscripts and kbd. I have
tried to use yum update but I get:

Font for cyrillic letters
...itle=Directives/font
says that for Cyrillic you need a CP855. Is that correct? All other guides in internet say that you need CP866.
I finally got it working. My config file was encoded in ibm866 correctly, but the problem was the font file itself.
I am on Arch Linux, so I run
gunzip -c /usr/share/kbd/consolefonts/cp866-8x16.psf.gz > cp866-8x16.psf
And Russian text was not displayed correctly.
Then I checked it with "file cp866-8x16.psf" and it was:
cp866-8x16.psf: Linux/i386 PC Screen Font v2 data, 256 characters, no directory, 16x8
In that wiki page it is said that font should b...

no kbd via serial
...that they couldn't see the
boot menu; I tried changing the serial port back to 0 in the isolinux
config, and now the menu is visible, but it doesn't respond to keyboard
input (again, over SOL; I haven't tried physical serial). This turns
out to be true (menu visible, no response to kbd) whether serial
redirection is enabled or not.
Has anyone encountered anything similar, and/or have any tips for what
else to try?
Thanks.

keyboard-interactive
Is there a way for a PAM module to force a client (and the server) to
use kbd-interactive? As far as I can tell, when in the INITIAL_LOGIN
phase, all communication with the client returns a PAM_CONV_ERR. I am
trying to write a PAM module that will prompt a user for a second
username and a second password in order for the module to succeed so
that proper authentication...

PAM merge from FreeBSD
A few things to keep in mind:
- kbd-int should call pam_authenticate(), acct_mgmt(), chauthtok(), if
required, setcred(PAM_ESTABLISH_CRED) and open_session() ALL during
kbd-int so that modules in each of those PAM stacks can prompt the
user (pam_open_session(), for example, may prompt a user with an

Is it intentional that after three unsuccessful logins, the login prompt
