Adding machine names
I'm having some trouble adding machine names to Samba. I've added a
user under linux for the machines that I need and they have a $ entry at
the end of them. I've also added a user entry for each computer with
smbadduser, all to no avail. Does anyone out there know of a good
source of reference material on this subject?
Thanks,

Viewing ACL permissions via windows kills smbd (help)
Hello all,
I have a Fedora 2 server running as a file server. Security = DOMAIN and
using winbindd successfully (so I think). Also the shared partitions are
formated using XFS so acls should be good to go. However, whenever I use a
windows machine and try to view the ACL permissions on a file/folder, the
windows dialog box say "Unable to display security information". Then I

Will 5.4 be an "Extended Life" release?
In the next month or two I've got to upgrade a number of servers that
are currently on an EOL'd version of 4-STABLE. I foresee that I'll
have very limited time to do full OS upgrades on these systems in the
coming several years, so I want to make sure I bring them onto an
extended-life branch.
Right now 4.11 has the furthest projected EOL date (Jan 31 2007), and

setting shares
I've got a list of global shares that are up and working right now. I

read list = @group_name
and
write list = @group_name
Using this, only members of the group can open the folder, and they can
read and write to it. However, when a user logs in that is not a member
of the group, he can still the that the folder exists. I don't want
this. How

badtrans virus
I've gotten 4 e-mails from this list today from people who were sending
out this virus. It appears to be spreading rather quickly. I would
urge all of you to update your virus software and get rid of this bug
quickly.

Seriously degraded SAS multipathing performance
I''m seeing seriously degraded performance with round-robin SAS
multipathing. I''m hoping you guys can help me achieve full throughput
across both paths.
My System Config:
OpenSolaris snv_134
2 x E5520 2.4 GHz Xeon Quad-Core Processors
48 GB RAM
2 x LSI SAS 9200-8e (eight-port external 6Gb/s SATA and SAS PCIe 2.0 HBA)
1 X Mellanox 40 Gb/s dual port card PCIe 2.0
