Is it possible to change the root ownership behaviour? T...

packages for LIML and JIVE estimators
Hi! I am a new user for R. Recently I plan to write a program to estimate linear model with instrumental variables. I try to use Limit information maximum likelihood method and Jackknife instrumental variable method, but I do not know which R packages I need to use. Whether anybody may inform me the packages I need to download? Thanks a lot. Eric Wang [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8
Bouncing a thread from the device drivers list: http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=357176 Does anybody know if OpenSolaris will support this new Supermicro card, based on the Marvell 88SE6480 chipset? It''s a true PCI Express 8 port JBOD SAS/SATA controller with pricing apparently around $125. If it works with OpenSolaris it sounds pretty much...

Kernel panic on zfs import
...fs pools; once it''s imported everything I usually have enough time to log in before it panics. If I boot from CD and ''zfs import -f tank'', it panics. I''ve just started a ''zdb -e tank'' which I found on the intertubes here: http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=49020. Zdb seems to be ... doing something. Not sure _what_ it''s doing, but it can''t be making things worse for me right? I''m going to try adding the following to /etc/system, as mentioned here: http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=114906...

Util to remove (s)log from remaining vdevs?
After having to reset my i-ram card, I can no longer import my raidz pool on 2008.05. Also trying to import the pool using the zpool.cache causes a kernel panic on 2008.05 and B89 (I''m waiting to try B90 when released). So I have 2 options: * Wait for a release that can import after log failure... (no time frame ATM) * Use a util that removes the log vdev info from the remaining vdevs.

ZFS and Virtualization
...ome rumors recently about using SMI-S to "de-virtualize" the traffic and allow Solaris to peek through the virtualization layers thus optimizing i/o target selection. Maybe someone has some rumors to add ;-) Virtualization with 6920 has been briefly discussed at http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=14984#14984 but without conclusion or recommendations. Volume mobility One of the major advantages of zfs is sharing of the zpool capacity between filesystems. I often run application in small "application containers" located on separate luns which are zoned...

I've tried to use http://www.gentoo-wiki.info/HOWTO_Setup_a_VPN_with_tinc as an example but the bridge commands don't jive with the Debian install I'm using. Any help is appreciated.

The Vendor Directory
...#39;'m working with a Development and a Production environment In order to keep things in synch between the two environments, I thought it would be good to "gem unpack" all of my currently installed gems into the vendor/ directory... so when I push things into Production... everything jives. I unpacked about 20 gems into the vendor/ directory.... now everything is broke :) I found this article: http://weblog.textdrive.com/article/180/depending-on-your-vendor-directory ... which had an example that scared me. It has a require statement in the code like: require ''path/gem...

Or how its value influences io traffic ? Regards przemol

s10 HVM 64-bit boot
Hi -- I wanted to boot s10 HVM in 64-bit mode but it always boots in 32-bit mode. Is there a special grub entry to boot s10 HVM domU in 64-bit mode? Or is it HVM loader? The grub entry is like this title Solaris 10 5/08 s10x_u5wos_01 X86 kernel /platform/i86pc/multiboot module /platform/i86pc/boot_archive s10.py file is as follows :- import os, re arch = os.uname()[4] if

We''re about to reconfigure a 6120 here for use with ZFS (S10U4), and the evil tuneable zfs_nocacheflush is not going to serve u...

rspec_on_rails'' spec:doc and dry runs
In rspec_on_rails, the spec:doc task uses --dry-run, which doesn''t jive well with rspec''s ability to write docs for you. For example, I use the rspec_expectation_matchers plugin from spicycode.com (scanned for a name, didn''t find one =), and end up writing specs like: it { @ticket.should validate_presence_of(:name) } Which results in specdocs s...

Import zpool from FreeBSD in OpenSolaris
...s able to find on the subject, it seems like it there is a differences between FreeBSD and Solaris. FreeBSD operates on directly on the disk and Solaris creates a partion and uses that... is that right? Is it impossible for OpenSolaris to use zpool''s from FreeBSD? * http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=445766 * http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=450755& * http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/ug-nzosug/2009-June/000027.html This is "zpool import" from my machine with OpenSolaris 2009.06 (all zpool''s are fine in FreeBSD). Unable to import zpool since system hang during zfs destroy
...I expect this will also take some time. While I wait for the results from "dd" and "zdb", is there anything else I can try in order to get the pool up and running again? I have spotted some previous, similar posts regarding hanging, notably this one: http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=70205&tstart=15 Unfortunately, I am a bit of a Nexenta/OpenSolaris/Unix newbie so a lot of that is way over my head, and when the system completely hangs, I have no choice but to power off. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks, Chris This message posted from opensola...
