Forcing a sspecific stream type
Is it possible to force Icecast to stream in a specific stream type, such as OGG, regardless of the source or input? For example, if a streaming client connects to an Icecast server with an MP3 format stream, can Icecast be forced to send it out as OGG or AAC or anything else? Or does Icecast simply pass the stream through unconverted?

ssl-cert's
# cat fullchain.pem privkey.pem >combined.pem I wouldn't think it matters much where you put the cert as long as the running Icecast user has permissions to read it. I'd create (if not already created) /etc/icecast personally. <ssl-certificate>: If specified, this points to the location of a file that contains both the X.509 private and public key. This is required for HTTPS

Cool Mic (Android vorbis live source client) beta available
Thank you all so far for the feedback. I've forwarded this to my dev team, right now they are working on improvements based on what I've received so far. I'll keep list updated on progress and new versions if that doesn't seem to spammy. My goal is for Cool Mic to be the most stable and functional (and open source!) Android source client for Icecast that supports open codecs.

Unicast or Multicast?
Hi buddylove, In addition to the links Philipp provided you, here is some more reading which will hopefully help you better understand the difference between multicast and unicast communications: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multicast https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicast Cheers, Jordan On 05/04/2016 06:39 AM, buddylove wrote: > @Phil > nice text... > just want to mention (or

Unicast or Multicast?
Oh, well by your "In the end... its the same..." statement and your question of what the difference is (and mentioning connection tracking which is a completely different subject), I was a bit confused as to your query. ssl-cert's
Putting your ssl certificate chain in a publicly accessible place like webroot is a very bad idea. Anyone could read it which means anyone could use it to impersonate your Icecast server. Hi all, I'm proud to announce Cool Mic's availability in the Google Play store (Public Beta / "Early Access"). Cool Mic is a 100% open source Icecast source client for Android that streams live audio from your microphone / mic-in jack using open codecs (Ogg/Opus, Ogg/Vorbis). Cool Mic has many interesting and useful features which I think are worth a look. Google Play:

Icecast mount points help
Hi Mark, Add extensions to all of your mountpoints for the appropriate audio codec/format you're using. For example, <mount-name>/test.opus</mount-name> for an Ogg/Opus stream. Don't forget to add extensions in the <fallback-mount> sections, too. I didn't look too closely at your config otherwise, that error was standing out. Cheers, Jordan P.S. Please
