Now I will write a program, that synchronises also two servers but only
in one way. One server is in the intranet zone and the other in the
internet zone. The challenge in this exercise is, that a connection
could only be established from the intranet server to the internet
server, but not in the other direction. Connections from the internet
server to the intranet server will be blocked by the firewall.

Internet access and R CMD make check-devel
I am trying to install R on CentOS (either 7 or 8, behavior is the
same) in an environment behind a firewall and while I am able to run:
R CMD make check
I am unable to run:
R CMD make check-devel
These latter tests fail. The failure occurs in the internet access
if() conditional statement in these two tests:
https://svn.r-project.org/R/trunk/tests/internet.R
https://svn.r-project.org/R/trunk/tests/internet2.R
In my environment, nsl("cran.r-project.org") returns a valid, non-null
value but subsequent commands in those test files do not su...

Networking Question
Hello,
I may have opportunity to obtain a Intel EXPI9404PTLBLK PRO/1000 PT Quad
Port ethernet adapter at a significantly reduced price.
What I would like to do with it, I want to make sure it is possible and
sane before I buy it.
-=-
Device sits in CentOS box that connects directly to Internet via onboard
network adapter.
It pretty much only acts as a NAT router + dhcp server + unbound
recursive DNS for the private networks.
The four ethernet interfaces on the Intel adapter then :
Private Network A: 192.168.10.0/24
Private Network B: 192.168.20.0/24
Private Network C: 192.168.30.0/2...

OpenBSD and too many open files
I posted some questions a few months back and received lots of great

ran into the pipe failed too many open files error. I am running this
setup on OpenBSD/sparc64 4.1-stable and so I put dovecot in its own
class and upped the maxfiles setting for that class. This was back
with dovecot 1.0 and everything worked fine. I

I am trying to compile Xen 4.0 on a machine without access to the
