Yum package/instlal/update problem
Hi gang! I'm trying to update my videolan client (0.8.4a-4.el4.rf) to the latest 0.8.6 version. I see that Dag has a 0.8.6 for EL4 (I'm running Centos 4.4) but when I do "yum update videolan-client" it says there's nothing to update. When I remove the videolan client than do "yum install videolan-client" it insists on trying to install the 0.8.4 version:

Puppet code review - suggestions and options
We are looking to implement a code review system that will require a review of the code before it gets to production servers. I have been looking into many different options, and would love some feedback and experiences from other users. Our puppet is in a git repo. We have 3 primary environments with a branch of puppet for each of them. All of our puppet info is in the git repo

CentOS 4 and CentOS 5 DomU on CentOS 5 Dom0: problems with hand-built OS and LVM
I''ve been running any number of CentOS 4 based Xen hosts and guests using CentOS 4.4, and the Xen RPM''s from www.xensource.com, and various hand-built OS images using jailtime and my own own OS images. I like the jailtime approach: One partition for / on the DomU, /dev/sda1, built as a local file or local LVM partition One partiton for swap on the DomU, /dev/sda2,

Getting hibernate to work on a new CentOS 7.2.1115 install
Hi, Thank you for this. > cat /sys/power/state I get: freeze mem > cat /sys/power/disk [disabled] > The first should include 'disk' and the second should say enabled or some such. So, clearly this is not set correctly. How do I make these changes, if I am allowed to? > Note that hibernation is probably not supported by theCentOS kernel if this is on a UEFI computer with

how to package hypervisor-pae?
Hi, I have just looked at the xen source, because I want to finish my work from yesterday and have the hypervisor-pae really build & packaged. It seems so that we have two possibilities to do this: 1) create another dpatch that would patch xen/Makefile in order to have other filenames for the hypervisor when the pae-flag is set. the advanced would be, that if we use diffrent filenames

Running a 32-bit application on CentOS3-x64
Hi, I'm trying to run Norman anti-virus on a CentOS 3 box, x64. Is it possible? Running the binary gives me this error: [root at server bin]# ./nvcc -bash: ./nvcc: /lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory I guess I would have to install i386 libraries that it requires, as well. It it possible? Regards, Ugo

Incomplete host name resolution
Hello I happen to have two network interfaces on my new, up-to-date, CentOS 6.2, named eth0 and virbr0 (3 of them if I include the lo interface). However the system APIs like getaddrinfo() only return the address for the virbr0 interface (which was created by the CentOS installation), when I would like to have them both. Even if I give the configured eth0 address explicitly to getnameinfo(),

CentOS and Wordpress
Hi All, I am currently am responsible for maintaining a website built on Apache 2, running on some CentOS 4 (64 bit version) boxes. Thus far, the website has comprised a few HTML pages, and some dynamic pages generated by perl scripts. The CentOS install is pretty vanilla -- the only departure I've made from the default server install is to install awstats from the rpmforge repositories.
