Hey all, In this week's Open Source Highlights I read: "Check ink level: If you have an Epson, Canon, HP, or Sony printer, you can see its ink level with a simple application. Look for the "ink" package in your distribution repositories." I checked my package manager but I didn't find any "ink" package. Does such a package exist...

I have an HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-one. As I haven't had any need for color lately, when I last replaced ink, I only replaced the black cartridge. The printer's firmware reconizes electronic signatures of cartridges, nothing you can do (short of flashing you printers bios, which will render it a door stop) is going to get that cartridge to recognize as full. Is there an easy way, for MCLUST in particular, to force its graphical output to all black and not use colors to show the clusters/groups? It shows the groups quite nicely by using triangles, crosses, etc. Unfortunately, my printer doesn't convert reds and yellows too nicely and the result is a indistinct figure on the page. ...anon PIXMA mg5420 doesn't have a fax or a sheet feeder for its scanner, but I'm guessing it's even dodgier to get just its single-sheet flatbed scanner and its printer working with Linux. So has anyone had success with that? I've also read horror stories about the how often new ink cartridges are required, that basically you pay for the printer a second and third time buying cartridges (not to mention how often a print job is interrupted by a trip to buy new cartridges). I have recently installed zone alarm internet protection an later found out that i was no longer able to access secure sites. I have uninstalled the antivirus and am still getting the same problem. I have tried IE and firefox but they both dont work. I am using a belkin wireless router for a wired pc and wireless network. I have a Canon Pixma MP250 Printer. Tried the Linux drivers and still can't get an ink reading on it. I have tried every single program I can find, from InkBlot to the Canon software that comes with the Linux drivers and none of them will read this silly printer. I didn't have a problem with it under Windows, but am having serious issues with the "genuine" stuff in it...

...a Gygabyte GA-7N400 PRO2 with a 2.6 mHz Athlon cpu. I want to set up a central file storage for 2/3 users using 6/7 machines. A mixture of win2k, XP and various Linux distros (my home network).
