OT -- Inexpensive CentOS dedicated servers?
Hey all, I am looking to get some input regarding inexpensive dedicated servers -- preferably with a hosting company the offers CentOS as an OS option. Does anybody have any input or recommendations? I'd really like to support a company that uses CentOS. And there are _so many options out there, is kind of overwhelming. Thanks, Ryan

Looking for inexpensive phone to use with Asterisk with message light and a button that will let me play new messages
I'm wanting to have a phone at home next to the garage door that when my bride comes home, she can see that there is a new message, push a button and have the messages played to her. Otherwise, she will not let me install asterisk on my home line. Can someone suggest relatively inexpensive hardware that will do this for me (us)? Thanks, -Peter

4+ Port FXS Analog Device
I'm looking for an inexpensive way to connect 20 analog phones to asterisk. I could get a bunch of Linksys or Sipura boxes but was wondering if there is a more cost effective way? I came across the Mediatrix 1104 and even the Mediatrix 1124 but that comes out to be almost $100/port. I might as well buy inexpensive IP phone. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Waldo

Need tip on an inexpensive printer for college student using CentOS 5.5
Sending my son back to college with a dual-boot laptop with Win 7 and CentOS 5.5. He uses Win7 to manage his iPod and SW that sometimes issued by a professor for a specific course...otherwise he uses CentOS for everything else. That setup worked well last year, except for printing. He has a low-end Cannon printer that is not supported in the Linux realm. Most of his coursework was uploaded to

Found: inexpensive ADSI phone
I know I heard people looking for inexpensive ADSI phones a while back. Can't vouch for these guys, but this looks like a reasonable deal for what perhaps are new phones. No experience with ADSI, myself, but thought I'd pass it along. These folks also carry the Nortel analog units that do intercom and 2-line, as has been discussed in prior threads. inexpensive ways to make a rails application highly available? mysql replication?
I''m interested in making a low volume rails application very available. This means that I would like to have an alternate server for those times when the primary server is unavailable for whatever reason. Virtual private servers are fairly inexpensive so one could have a rails application on 2 different vps systems (not on the same server, possibly not even in the same city).

seems-to-be-inexpensive source of polycom 301 and501
i have ordered 500s from tritechcoa.com several times over the past 4 months. great service and delivery, and the prices are lowish, only problem is, they add a $20 handling fee per phone, on top of phone price, and shipping, making the lower price not as good -----Original Message----- From: Mojo with Horan & Company, LLC [mailto:mojo@horanappraisals.com] Sent: Friday, July 15, 2005 12:01

Software to test a LAN for possible VoIP Install
Aloha, Does anyone know of any opensource or inexpensive software that can test a network for a possible VoIP installation? I have seen Chariot by NetIQ, but it is very costly! I am envisioning two or three "client" devices that talk to a server device. Each client could simulate 1-100 VoIP phone calls. The server module would monitor the QOS, jitter, etc., and provide some kind of

Door Contacts via Asterisk?
Hi all, I have had (what I consider) an odd request. The installation I'm working on now is an office on a multi-floor building. They 're looking for some kind of solution with the phone system to provide door control. We are a non-profit so of course I'm looking for something VERY inexpensive. I'm sure /someone/ has done something like this. I'd appreciate any ideas. Cassius

Small inexpensive SBC for Speex? How about the TIC5505
Hi David, If cost is an issue then, yes you can do all that (the speex at least) with the eZDSP USB stick. Only limitation is a slow emulator that is integrated with USB, and so there is no JTAG output to use with other emulators. If you don't have an emulator anyway then this is an advantage. seems-to-be-inexpensive source of polycom 301 and 501
Hello, sorry if this kind of a price really isn't news to you all, but it seemed really good to me. www.tritechcoa.com has the 301s for $114.20 and the 501s for $171.29. I ordered them on the 11th and they arrived today, on the 15th, but I'm in Alaska so I call that _good_ order response. Mojo

Request for suggesstions -- inexpensive 10Gbps NAS / 300TB JBOD with centos head
Greetings, I am located in India. Any experience or suggestions for building blocks using copper preferably (and not fiber SAN)? Enclosures, Technologies (iscsi etc). Many US companies are very picky about export regulations for such humongous data appetites. The application is mainly A/V or vfx file handling. -- Regards, Rajagopal

Your RoR 1.1 Adoption Prediction?
What is the likelyhood that major inexpensive webhosts like godaddy, bluehost, etc. will upgrade to RoR 1.1? Is this going to be like PHP 5 where it has to percolate for a year or more before it becomes widly available? Your thoughts? Along the same lines... is it possible to adopt some of the new improved Ajax / javascript capabilities without actually upgrading the ruby installation?

Playing flac files from external hard drive
Hi, Many thanks for this! I was looking for an inexpensive solution, and a Nokia tablet is too expensive for me. I was hoping for a cheap mp3 player with a USB connection, but thanks for the advice anyway. Abe On 7 July 2010 19:30, Ognjen Bezanov <Ognjen at mailshack.com> wrote: > My nokia n810 does this.
