link() problem with dovecot-imapd
...gment below for when I try to do a move, the FS that
my Maildir is on doesn't support link() hence the problem. It seems to
be doing a proper copy to get it into the tmp/ part of the Maildir and
then a link() to put it in new/.
Any ideas on how to cure this?

changes in glm?
...I have no problems. However I need more speed so migrated to our UNIX
boxes which run
Version 0.90.1 (December 15, 1999)
Here I get an error
Error in (if (is.empty.model(mt)) glm.fit.null else glm.fit)(x = X, y
= Y, : y must be univariate unless binomial
which has baffled me.
So I as your indulgence and ask
(1) What if anything has changed in glm from 0.63 to 0.90?
(2) Is glm sensative to changes of word length?
(3) Given making R on an Alpha is beyond me (so is a problem) should
I migrate to a later version of R or does this bring more problems in
its wake?
(4) Does anyone recognise th...

not all of which we may agree with, why someone chooses to do

Complaining about people's email habits, particularly in public,
where the content is not the issue strikes me as pointless, self-
indulgent in the extreme, and reflects most poorly on the
personality of the complainant.

Thanks, I was kind of indulging my laziness, mentioned the command name
and assumed keen person will look up command usage him/herself. But on a
receiving end being lazy person I would prefer to just copy and paste
using _your_ post as opposed to my own ;-)

...lute path names; also tried with just dyn.load("cftpR.so")),
into my .Rprofile to load the library at startup, the library doesn't get

trying different things and reading documentation, but no dice. So, I
crave your indulgence.

Memory in R.
Hi,
I am pretty new in R.
In fact, I started using R last month.
So, be indulgent if my questions seem
too boring or obvious.
I have 2 basic questions:
1 - I want to increase memory, but I can't find
the right way. E.g: in stata, you just type "set memory 1g".
When I try to load huge datasets, R crashes.
2 - I want to clear the memory (no object or data), suc...

very beginner's question
Begging the list's indulgence, an extremely dumb beginner's question. I've got 24 months' worth of numbers - ranging from 2 events per month, to 66 events per month. I want to take a stab at making a reasonable guess as to what the next year's data would be, approximately, i.e., based on the 24 months I...

Any way to temporarily disable a registered SIP PEER in Asterisk?
Hi Everyone,
We want to be able to momentarily or temporarily provide CONGESTION or
DE-REGISTER a SIP PEER to asterisk through WEB GUI. I don't want to indulge
into dial-plan and write changes to .conf file every-time. Is there any way
that a SIP PEER can be de-registered for an amount of time or maybe
deactivated? or there isn't such facility available in asterisk?
Thanks

replace (FILESERVER). However, I want to install mandrake 9.2 and samba 3.0

Density estimation: scale back for calendar time
Dear all:Request your indulgence. The econophysics gurus do this stuff all
the time: all their PDFs are smooth, with neat log x axis.
1. The kernel density estimate (KDE) function returns the empirical
probability density at 2^n points (min: 512). The big question is how do I
scale back the x-values (say, density$x) to x-value...

The current version of the cryptex is version 3.1. It's changed rather

gnophone/IAX problem
Greetings everyone,
I'm still a newbie, so please indulge me. I have set up an asterisk
server on my RH9 boxes for testing. Instead of immediately launching into
the hardware aspect of it I decided to go with 2 IAX clients (gnophone)
which I placed on 2 other strategic machines within my LAN. Here's my
problem, on one of the IAX clients (gnoph...

Creating shared libraries for dyn.load() in R
...*.o files into a shared library that R
will read with dyn.load() (I am following the procedure recommended by V&R
in their R Complements to MASS).
I suspect, of course, that the problem is that I don't really understand how
to use ld to produce the shared libraries correctly. Could anyone indulge a
newbie and offer some advice? Even a pointer to documentation on how to
build shared libraries would be great.
(Alternatively: Dr. Gu's Makefile for GKPACK uses "ranlib" to put the
object code into a *.a file. Can R be persuaded to use this kind of file?)
Thanks,
Peter Bouman...
