Win2K domain at work, Samba workgroup at home
...can, as administrator, change the
System Properties->Network Indentification->Properties->Member of... to
remove the Domain assignment, and restart the computer. This is pretty
lame, though, because it's tedious, extremely slow, and you lose your old
login and desktop -- which is very inconvient. It would be nice if there
were mobile profiles to handle this, but I can't find it. Even better, I
could stay in the Domain, but the machines in the home workgroup would
simply be accessible through some setting.
Thanks in advance for any help,

win32-mmap test suite
I just tried running tc_mmap.rb and noticed that something rather curious
seems to happen. The call to Mmap.new in setup seems to cause the test
suite to just exit without ever actually running the tests.
I reduced the test suite to just this bit of code. This works, although the
final test (TypeError) does not pass - no exception in thrown.
This is 1.8.1 on Win2k.
Any ideas?

Winedevice.exe has caused a serious problem and Flash 8
The program winedevice.exe has caused a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvience.
I'm running Macromedia Flash 8 when this error occurs.
I'm also unable to run the "Uninstall Wine Software" program.
When I click it, nothing happens.
This happens with wine 1.1.22 and 1.1.23.
Any ideas?
Thx!

Ordering categories on a boxplot - a serious trap??
...uate:
v=read.table("factor-order.txt",header=TRUE);
par(mfrow=c(2,1));
boxplot(v$dose~v$doseGroup);
levels(v$doseGroup) = c("L", "M", "H");
boxplot(v$dose~v$doseGroup);
par(mfrow=c(1,1));
The above creates two plots, one correct with the factors in an inconvient order, and one that is WRONG. In the latter, the labels appear in the desired order, but the data does not "move with them." I did not discover the problem until I repeated the same type of plot with something that had a known relationship with the levels, and the result was clearly not...

Sweave and absolute escaped backslashed Windows paths in R 2.12.0
...d) })
Writing to file test.tex
Processing code chunks ...

Error: chunk 1
Error : '\M' is an unrecognized escape in character string starting "h:\M"
I can certainly work around it by manually executing Sweave with slashed
or relative paths, but it is an inconvient change in behavior that I
don't recall seeing a reference to in NEWS.
I'm guessing something in Sweave is taking the string
"H:\\My Documents\\test.Rnw"
and turning it into
"H:\My Documents\test.Rnw"
which when treated as a string is not valid (as \M is not a valid

0.5.1 release?
A while back there was some discussion of a wxRuby 0.5.1 release that
would have the XRC fixes. Any ideas of when that might become
available, or what the current status is?
Thanks!

patch for 2.2.5 and check for start_tls with OpenLDAP 2.0.x libs
FYI....
There is a bu in the configure script for 2.2.5 that prevents the script
from locating the start_tls function in the OpenLDAP 2.0.x libs.
Apply this patch and rerun autoconf. Should fix it. Patches
configure.in and passdb/pdb_ldap.c
Sorry for the inconvience.
cheers, jerry

ip_conntrack_ftp fails to load on CentOS 4.3
...el install, I dropped back to the
2.6.9-22SMP.EL kernel, where I still cannot load the module. I then
removed the -34* kernel packages and reinstalled them, then booted into
them. No dice.
Just for fun, I cleared all iptables entries, and tried again. No dice.
Short of a reload (which would be inconvient, given that the box is 100
miles away) I'm at a loss at what to look at next. Everything appears
to be fine.
The machine is a dual-Athlon box, SCSI, with selinux in permissive mode.
Using "strace modprobe ip_conntrack_ftp" I get the results which are at
the end of this message.

I have a public share on my samba server named "Public" as follows:
[public]

path = /home/samba/public
browseable = yes

write list = @mis
I've tried removing the writeable and write list, adding a forced

We are back at square one; or, at the subject line.
I did a zpool status -v, everything was hunky dory.
Next, a power failure, 2 hours later, and this is what zpool status

[patch 00/43] lguest: Patches for 2.6.24 (and patchbomb test)
Hi all,
These are the patches I'm planning to submit for 2.6.24. Comments
gratefully accepted. Along with the usual cleanups and improvements are Jes'
de-i386-ification patches, and a new "virtio" mechanism designed to be shared
with KVM (and hopefully other hypervisors).
Cheers,
Rusty.
