OT?: Binaries from sernet
All,
Apologies if this is an impertinent question. I've been installing source
RPMs from the "Experimental" branch at sernet. That has yet to change to
samba-3.2.4. I understand it's a volunteer effort, but I was wondering if
any work is being done to create the 3.2.4 source rpm?

Think I'm sure, but confirm: lme4 vs. nlme
The impression I get from the list and the references I've perused is
that nlme is being phased out in favor of lme4, but lme4 still doesn't
have a complete feature set yet.
What I'm still fuzzy on, being a relative R newbie, is:
(a) what features in nlme are currently missing in lme4
(b) what's the projected time frame on getting them implemented.
If anyone can answer my naive

problem (and solution) to rle on vector with NA values
Hello there R-help,
I'm not sure if this should be posted here - so apologies if this is the case.
I've found a problem while using rle and am proposing a solution to the issue.
Description:
I ran into a niggle with rle today when working with vectors with NA values
(using R 2.31.0 on Windows 7 x64). It transpires that a run of NA values
is not encoded in the same way as a run of other

CentOS website/blog localization support for IT (italian...) language
Hi guys, greetings from Italy.
My name is Andrea Flori and I work in an IT company who give Linux
support to his customers
I am somehow involved with CentOS in the last 3 years (both for
private/personal use and work) and I think that time is arrived to
give some contribution to the project.

Drivers for FORE systems cards under FreeBSD
I had originally mentioned this only to 2 people, which was Jordan
K. Hubbard and Paul Henning-Kemp, but since I have received a lot of
queries on this, I thought I might as well post it on the FreeBSD announce
groups.
Included below is a posting done on the Linux-atm mailing group, by
Pragnesh Sampat. I have just adapted for FreeBSD.

Apologies for my impertinence, but I have one question: Why?
I was under the impression that we had reached an agreement under
which _you_ would perform all necessary bit-fiddling... insuring that
all steps are down exactly as you think best... and that THEN you would
give me an image that I could simply dd to a stick and try...

New installation woes
I've just installed CentOS 5.2 for the x86_64 on a SuperMicro X6DA8-G
board with two 250g SATA drives configured in the bios as a raid 1
array. After getting the base installed, I've tried to yum update the
system and I wind up with these errors....

Porting R
I am trying to get R 1.0 running on the Mac.
The main target is MacX. Anyone else working on that?
For the recent Macintosh system, I am trying to compile R using MachTen.
The R core compiles and runs without any changes, using the Unix make files.
The libraries give some problems, presumably due to handling of shared
libraries. It seems I am missing something to link. Before I spend my time
