rsync time machine backup permissions
What is the order that rsync uses to set permissions? Time Machine directories have ACL permissions that basically prohibit making any changes of any kind. In order to make a backup of the directory, you would need to set those permissions after copying everything in the subdirectories. Is rsync smart enough to do it in that order? rsync time machine backup permissions
Dear rsync users, I'm trying to copy my Time Machine Backup from my old USB hard drive to a new one. I got error messages, because rsync don't create group and other permissions. I use rsync 3.1.3. Did I use the correct parameters? Who has an idea, what mistake? Thanks! Best, André -- The bash script: #!/bin/bash source=/Volumes/LaCie\ d2\ Quadra\ v3/Backups.backupdb

Problem with text entry fields (Mac OS X Snow leopard)
I use Wine for the windows programs I created with Clarion (Topspeed) environment. After upgrade from Mac OS X Tiger to Snow Leopard, I can't input any text in entry fields, using English keyboard layout. When I type something, I hear the beep sound, no letters appers on the screen. I even can't paste latin letters text using shortcuts, and the context dropdown menu doesn't appear

[LLVMdev] I can debug llvm source code by lldb on iMac
Ten days ago, I asked "Can I debug llvm source code by iMac Xcode?". I still cannot do it now, but I can debug llvm source code by iMac lldb. I write it down on section  "1.4  Create LLVM.xcodeproj of supporting cpu0 by terminal cmake command" of GammaLLVMBackendBook.pdf in https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2pkh1fewlq2zag9/r9n4gnqPm7  Best regards Jonathan

Asterisk on iMac G3 Debian5 (powerpc)
I've recently installed the latest Debian Linux for powerpc onto and old iMac (version A) the original iMac with a 233Mhz G3 processor and 160MB of sdram. The debian install went smooth and so the the apt-get install of Asterisk 1.4.21 It appears to have no functioning zaptel or ztdummy module. Is because of hardware? or is it because whoever built the package didn't include a full

2.2.3a connection failure from XP to 10.3.4
Hello from a neophyte! Is there a diagnostic programme which can be run to determine if there are any faults in Samba 2.2.3a? I cannot connect from Win XP to my rev/b iMac (suddenly, maybe 'upgrade' to 10.3.4 had some effect) and the smb crashlog (shown below) has a pile of stuff which is incomprehensible to me. Secondly, how does one upgrade to another version of Samba and is this

[LLVMdev] I can debug llvm source code by lldb on iMac
You should be able to create an xcode project using cmake and then use that to build and debug llvm (as you've discovered how to create an xcode project). Doug may know more. -eric On Sun, Nov 4, 2012 at 4:36 AM, gamma_chen <gamma_chen at yahoo.com.tw> wrote: > Ten days ago, I asked "Can I debug llvm source code by iMac Xcode?". Finally.... CentOS on iMac core 2
I've been trying several combinations of OSX, CentOS to try and get CentOS installed on an old iMac. I finally first installed OS X, then installed CentOS in the open space after OS X. With refit installed and selecting CentOS, it starts booting but get a screen that a boot device can't e found. So I then install Xubuntu with the option to replace OS X. After Xbuntu is installed and then

RoR - Mac OS 10.4.4 on Intel
I got a new 20 inch iMac dual core today and am busy getting it all setup. A couple of issues though: 1. Is the Ruby 1.8.2 install by Apple still botched or has that been fixed? I recall someone had fixed the rbconfig.rb to get it working. Is this something I still have to do? 2. Does anyone know if Locomotive is using the uniersal binaries, or is it targetting PPC yet? I couldn''t

centos8 / anaconda EFI regression / HFS+ ESP
Hi folks, years ago I had no problem installing CentOS7 on my iMac workstation (iMac Late 2015). The installation worked out of the box. Today I wanted to upgrade to CentOS8 and while configuring the partitions I get an error that the installation can not start because: "HFS+ ESP needed and mounted on /boot/efi". In fact they are the same partition as for CentOS7. Is this a regression

HFSPlus Question
In CentOS 7.2.1511 does the 3.10.0-327.18.2.el7.centos.plus.x86_64 (Plus) kernel read HFSPlus iMac drives? I don't see any hfsplus modules installed anywhere, so I suspect not. My sister's 17" iMac died, and I'm trying to recover the drive. If it spins up, I'd like to copy it with dd. I see that Elrepo has kmod-hfsplus and hfsplus-tools, will these work with the Plus kernel?
