r format questions
Hi, 1) I have noticed that when I use the aggregate function it outputs numbers in the results. for example: aggregate by product group.1 Aggregate 1 ProductA 1000400.00 2 ProductB 23232323.00 3 Missing 232323.00 is there a way to suppress the numbers infront of aggregate outputs. I checked and they don't look like columns when I do a summary so I can't -1

style question: returning multiple arguments - structure orlist
I see Thomas has already nailed this one, so it becomes a non-issue. Nevertheless I feel moved to say I think the idea would have been a step in the wrong direction in the first place. It comes from a desire to make R behave "a bit more like matlab" and that is ultimately unhelpful. Having tried to teach generations of students how to use the system (S-PLUS, but it could equally well

mail_location backends
Hello, Where I work we have have an interesting setup, we have 2 machines with mail accounts on them and both have dovecot. We would really like to centralize all the mail accounts on one machine, but unfortunately the administration has not approved it. However, if we could create the "illusion" that they are on the same machine that would be acceptable. If we have a 3rd machine, lets

...ger+metronome and afterwards everything is fitted together (thanks to the midi time code)? I may be missing something obvious, but would like to avoid a long discussion and then we find out that each one of us was talking about something completely different. Cheers Thomas PS: Excuse my MIDI illiteracy, it's been 10 years since I had my keyboard hooked up via MIDI to my PC with tracking software.

Identifying Package for Function
While reading ?subset I'm referred to learn about dropvalues() as a following operation. Yet, when I issue ?dropvalue I see, "No documentation for '?dropvalues' in specified packages and libraries:". How do I identify the library/package that contains a specific function such as, in this case, dropvalues()? Rich

Macros and stuff
I was looking at my controller code and the edit/create/update/new for each are practically identical. So first I DRY''d the four methods in each controller to just one and then I decided to write a single macro for all my controllers. This is the macro: def self.edit_action_for(model, options = {}) model_class = Object.const_get(model) define_method(:edit) do

looking for a string
Hi all, I have not been able to find an answer to what is a simple question: conaguaMexicoSub <- subset(conagua, unidad == "Jalapa", select = c(equipo,X101:X309)) This subset gives me all the rows from conagua where unidad is Jalapa. But, please, how do I get all the rows where unidad contents Jalapa? I've been looking at regex, but I didn't find how pass one to unidad

How to separate a data set by its factors
I have a large data set of airport data and wish to analyze it by hour and day of the week. hour and day of the week are factors. I can do something such as: histogram(~(Arrival.Val) | DAY*Hour, type="count", breaks=60) which displays the data the way I want it in principle, but the plots are too small to read. I added layout=c(7,6,4) to the argument list, but then I only get the first
