CentOS 7 1708 won't boot after grub2 update
Hi all, This is the third fresh install of CentOS 7 1708 the last two months that won't boot after a regular "yum update" just after the fresh install has finished. I've never had this problem before, it has just worked. The installs are on OEM's that have previously run CentOS 6.9 x64. Am I missing something here? -- BW, Sorin

MariaDB database for users and passwords?
Greetings, All! I've got an email server set up with Postfix and Dovecot, but Dovecot can't find any users.? I'd ilke to use the database I set up in MariaDB for users (referenced by Postfix), but I'm just not sure how to do it.? There's a line in dovecot.conf specifying /etc/dovecot/passwd.db, but obviously that's not the one I set up in MariaDB.? Is what I want even possible? Ken -- Registered Lin...

Just delete that index
I get a few messages of this ilk each day: Dec 16 01:56:31 aurora dovecot: IMAP(doug): Corrupted index cache file /home/doug/Maildir/.users.joe/dovecot.index.cache: indexid changed I usually address this by deleting dovecot.* in the directory of issue. I was thinking that I could instead just have the server delete these files and attempt to recreate them, and skipping that error message

Question: Using Windows XP under Linux?
I'm curious about the feasability and possibility of using Wine as a basis for running as much MS code under Linux as possible. Let me explain: Windows XP (and most of it's ilk before it) don't support remote booting, that is using a diskless workstation and booting the OS from the network. Linux, of course readily provides that functionality. However, switching to linux is not

using ddply but preserving some of the outside data
I have a bit of a quandy. I'm working with a data set for which I have sampled sites at a variety of dates. I want to use this data, and get a running average of the sampled values for the current and previous date. I originally thought something like ddply would be ideal for this, however, I cannot break up my data by date, and then apply a function that requires information

status of US mirror
When I try to go to http://cran.us.r-project.org I get sent to a location called "domains 4 sale" or something of that ilk, indicating that some "URL scavenger" has flagged it as expired. Has something happened, or is it just wishful thinking on some scavenger's part that the URL is no longer pointing to the US CRAN mirror? Try this link:

Asterisk and Sheeva "wall wart".
Hey, all. I'm seriously thinking about doing the VoIP thing at home. The perfect platform seemed to be the Sheeva "wall wart" (http://www.marvell.com/products/embedded_processors/developer/kirkwood/sheevaplug.jsp). It's a cute little doohicky with USB, SD-card, Ethernet, and runs on an ARM CPU. I'd like to avoid SIP to my provider, just 'cause it's always such a

R doesn't use all available memory
Hi, I'm running R 1.5.1 under Solaris 5.8 (i86), 2GB physical RAM. R can't run memory intensive jobs even though the system reports plenty of free memory: R seems to refuse to take more than about 800Mb even though there is apparently about 950Mb still free - not to mention swap space. I've tried changing mem.limits() etc. with no effect. The result is an error of the ilk

[PATCH v5 07/12] drm/nouveau: Switch DDC when reading the EDID
The pre-retina MacBook Pro uses an LVDS panel and a gmux controller to switch the panel between its two GPUs. The panel mode in VBIOS is notoriously bogus on these machines. Use drm_get_edid_switcheroo() in lieu of drm_get_edid() on LVDS if the vga_switcheroo handler is capable of temporarily switching the panel's DDC lines to the discrete GPU. This allows us to retrieve the EDID if the panel

visualizing transition probability matrices
Dear List, I have a couple of (~200) 3x3 transition probability matrices (ie each defines a Markov chain). They are all estimated from the same underlying process, so it ie meaningful to take their elemetwise mean and standard deviation. [1] First question: supposing that they are given in a list l, how do I get their elementwise mean and standard deviation? Fortunately, the mean of trans. prob.

[LLVMdev] Multi instruction pattern help
I am trying to get a multi instruction pattern to work and seem to be running into trouble. The problem itself is fairly simple. I need to go from 64bit floats to 32bit integers. As the backend doesn't support this natively but has a way of converting it, I'd prefer to get this working via tablegen. What I thought would work from the previous discussion is the following: def :

Must Samba4 AD be provisionned with rfc2307 to use winbind ?
Oh I think I must of misread what you and steve where discussing. Why does it always say the lowest function level is
